Chapter 161
Chapter 161:
“Is it okay if I wait here for Kaiden?” Ellie inquired.
“Certainly,” Zoey replied. “But Mr. Thorpe’s meetings often last over three hours. Can you wait that long p>
“Absolutely p>
Ellie settled onto a sofa in the lounge, picking up a book to read.
Yet, in less than thirty minutes, the lounge door swung open.
Kaiden, maneuvering his wheelchair swiftly, approached Ellie. “Why are you still here?” He gazed at her with an urgency in his voice, as if battling to contain his emotions.
“What?” Ellie responded, puzzled.
“Weren’t you supposed to have dinner with someone p>
It appeared that the director was really loyal to Kaiden. A seemingly casual piece of information she had shared with him moments ago had reached Kaiden’s ears with remarkable speed.
“Is the meeting over?” Glancing towards the meeting room, Ellie noticed the senior executives hadn’t come out, indicating the meeting was still ongoing. “It’s not finished, is it?” It wasn’t.
“Ellie, I need to know,” Kaiden pressed, his mind reeling with the words Ellie had shared with Jorge, overheard through the meeting room’s surveillance.
“Jorge, in a wolf pack, there’s only room for one alpha. Kaiden, with his prowess, need not yield to others. Are you trying to demean Kaiden by having him work under Talon? Logically, you ought to be grateful to Kaiden p>
Kaiden sighed inwardly. Was she naive? Advocating for him by herself, unaware that if not for the surveillance, her words would have remained unknown to him.
In that moment, a torrent of emotion surged through Kaiden’s veins. His gaze fixed unblinkingly on the woman before him.
“Are you upset with me, Kaiden?” Setting aside her book, Ellie continued, “I bumped into Erick downstairs. To piss him off, I claimed the Koenigsegg I was driving was a gift from you. He probably suspects you’re the GT Group CEO, hence he brought Jorge here. I’m sorry… Eh p>

It was entirely unexpected for Ellie when Kaiden kissed her so suddenly.
Overwhelmed by shock, she was momentarily immobilized. Her lower body collapsed onto the sofa, while her upper body leaned into Kaiden’s arms. His hand, gripping her waist, was the only thing keeping her somewhat steady.
“Oh my god p>
The exclamation came from a stunned observer. A senior executive, who had stepped out to find Kaiden, stood at the meeting room door, his eyes wide with disbelief.
Regaining her senses, Ellie attempted to push Kaiden away.
“What are you looking at?” Kaiden, clearly annoyed by the interruption, scowled.
“I’m sorry! Mr. Thorpe, I’ll leave now p>
The executive, regaining his composure, hurriedly retreated, ushering away a colleague who had heard his shout.
