Chapter 187
Chapter 187:
“I… I’m not comfortable spending someone else’s money.” The reference to “someone else” visibly unsettled Kaiden.
His discomfort was evident as he frowned.
“Isn’t it normal to use your husband’s money?” he asked, his tone light but with an underlying chill. “Or do you simply not want to use mine p>
Ellie glanced down at the hand-stitched seats before speaking. “Kaiden, I never used Erick’s money, even when we were engaged p>
“Am I no different from Erick to you?” Kaiden’s expression darkened instantly.
Before she could explain, he grabbed her arm and pulled her toward him.
In an instant, Ellie found herself seated on his lap.
His lips, chilled by the winter air, pressed against hers with a gentle yet icy touch.
Ellie’s mind went blank under his intense embrace. “Hey! Mmm p>
Her thoughts snapped back to the present as she remembered the driver sitting in the front seat. Instinctively, she tried to push Kaiden away. Her resistance only seemed to encourage him. He pulled her closer, her waist against his, her entire body enveloped by his.
She found herself yielding to his kiss.
Kaiden finally released her when breathing became a struggle. Ellie, gasping for air, looked into his dark eyes. They swirled with desire and an emotion she couldn’t quite decipher.
“Ellie, I’m the one for you, not Erick p>
Kaiden playfully tweaked Ellie’s earlobe with his fingers from time to time. It caused her to feel ticklish, but she couldn’t escape it.
Glancing at the driver’s seat, Ellie noticed the driver focused on the road, seemingly oblivious to the passionate kissing happening in the back seat for over ten minutes. After a couple of seconds, he pressed a button, and the backseat partition slowly rose, transforming the back seat into an independent space. Ellie was speechless.
If the driver hadn’t pressed the button, she might have allowed herself to indulge in self-deception.
“I don’t mean to compare you to Erick,” Ellie said, trying to explain. “I just want to prove that I don’t spend other people’s money… I don’t spend anyone’s money but mine, including Baylee’s p>
Kaiden’s expression soured. “Now you’re comparing me to Baylee?” he retorted, clearly unhappy.
Ellie looked at him, puzzled. She didn’t understand what had gotten into him. “That’s not what I mean. I’m just making an analogy. You’re not the same p>
Despite her explanation, Kaiden still wore a long face.
Attempting to ease the tension, Ellie teased, “I’ll use your money tomorrow p>
Mockingly, Kaiden asked, “Aren’t you unwilling to spend other people’s money?” His expression remained stoic.
