Chapter 63
Chapter 63:
They were both mature adults; if he was bold enough to ask, she was brave enough to respond.
A flicker of surprise, then amusement, passed through Kaiden’s eyes. Ellie, once hiding behind a facade of innocence, was now presenting herself unabashedly.
Outside the office, Zoey spotted Bruce carrying two large bags of hot chocolate.
“I’ve never seen you buy these before,” she remarked curiously.
Bruce nodded toward Kaiden’s office. “They’re for the folks inside p>
“What? You mean Miss Gordon? Who is she?” Zoey, who had worked for Kaiden for over three years, had never seen him take the initiative to meet any woman.
“She’s Mr. Thorpe’s woman. Be careful not to offend her p>
Zoey’s expression shifted subtly at the revelation.
Mr. Thorpe’s woman?
When, and most importantly, how did that happen?
Bruce entered the office, finding Kaiden engrossed in documents and Ellie deep in thought on the sofa. He placed the hot chocolate on the coffee table.
“Mrs. Thorpe, this is hot chocolate that Mr. Thorpe asked me to get for you p>
The mention of hot chocolate stirred buried memories in Ellie’s mind.
Eyeing those cups laden with toppings, she couldn’t help but ask, “Isn’t this too much p>
Bruce suppressed a snicker as Ellie’s earlobes flushed red. Kaiden, noticing her reaction, signaled Bruce to leave.
Relaxed and observant, Kaiden watched Ellie.
“Well, about that night when you were drunk, you specifically p>
“Enough! I know what happened!” Ellie interjected, her despair amusing Kaiden.
“If there’s nothing else, I’ll be leaving now.” Ellie was eager to escape Kaiden’s presence, finding each moment with him torturous.
“Wait!” Kaiden’s attention shifted to Ellie’s high heels. He called Zoey.

Shortly after, Zoey returned, a pair of Gucci leather slippers in hand.
“Change into these,” Kaiden instructed.
Ellie, eager to leave, complied without protest, finding the slippers soothing against her aching knees.
“I’m leaving,” Ellie announced, grabbing her bag.
“Don’t forget your hot chocolate,” Kaiden reminded her.
Ellie closed her eyes, wishing to escape the phrase “hot chocolate.” Yet, she couldn’t deny its appeal. She sighed and selected a cup.
Kaiden then instructed Bruce, “Take her back p>
Ellie, attempting to dismiss Bruce, said, “You must be quite busy p>
Bruce replied, “Mr. Thorpe has more on his plate p>
“I can go on my own. No need to accompany me,” Ellie insisted.
Bruce, however, was adamant. “Mrs. Thorpe, given your recent actions, Mr. Thorpe insisted I escort you back to Moon Manor p>
Ellie was at a loss for a response.
