“Wa— Wait!” Ellie suddenly gasped, stopping him. “You forgot to use a condom,” she reminded.
Kaiden glanced towards the bedside table, a good ten meters away, and for the first time cursed the expansive size of his bedroom.
They had always been careful not to forget to use a condom when they shared intimate moments.
In that moment, Kaiden was overwhelmed by a wave of impulsiveness. “I don’t want to use it,” he said.

Realizing her distressed state, Kaiden remembered that Ellie, despite being highly educated and accomplished, was only twenty-one. Her peers were still in college.
He carried her to the bedside table, moving with quick, determined steps. The master bedroom echoed with his indulgent and caring voice.

Carole felt no regret for her attitude toward Ellie. Since Kaiden had not taken her side and had stood up for Aphrodite, she decided to let it go. After all, it seemed pointless to dwell on it.
