Chapter 635
Garfield, aware of the morning’s events, responded with a smile, “Perhaps the owner of the island doesn’t like you.”
Kristopher, meanwhile, showed little interest in the caviar.
Yet, the gift was from Ellie, making Kristopher grip it even more tightly without realizing it.
He wished Ellie had delivered it herself.
The moment Garfield left, the warmth in Kristopher seemed to vanish. It was as if a blade had been placed over Darrell’s throat.
“Garfield’s close to Ellie. You’re worried she’ll find out you went after me,” Darrell chuckled, thinking he had leverage over Kristopher.
“Would you even dare to tell her?” Kristopher responded with a sneer. In an instant, Kristopher’s subordinates had silently gathered around.
Darrell’s smirk froze on his face.
“You… you have feelings for Ellie?” Darrell couldn’t believe it and said, “But Kristopher, Ellie’s married!”
“Mr. Vargas, just worry about keeping yourself alive and staying quiet.”
The air was heavy with the scent of the sea, and the breeze caused Kaiden’s clothing to flutter.
He was on the dock’s edge, watched closely by a handful of security personnel.
Merely five minutes earlier, these guards had been instructed by their boss to grant Kaiden access to the island.
Once on the island, Kaiden stood still, his gaze casually fixed on the Dreamboat sign etched in gold in the distance.
“Sir, you can go and find the person you are looking for,” one of the guards reminded.
“I’ll wait here for my wife to come for me.”
Shortly after Kaiden’s words, a figure in white appeared, moving gracefully like a butterfly in the breeze.
“There she is, my wife.”
“Kaiden, why are you here?” Ellie inquired.
The sea breeze prompted her to unconsciously squint her eyes, but the surprise in her beautiful gaze couldn’t be concealed.
Kaiden suddenly felt that the fatigue from working all night was all worth it.
He smiled. “Weren’t you the one who extended the invitation?” He helped her tuck her unruly hair behind her ear, turned to the side, and thoughtfully shielded her from the wind.
“When did I…”
Ellie’s words trailed off as she suddenly recalled the phone call from last night and the conversation she had with him.
He had clearly exploited the ambiguity in her words!
