Chapter 967
While she was still in the car, Katharine phoned Ellie.
“Ellie, have you heard about Carole’s situation?”
“Yes, I have.”
“Glenn will arrange for someone to remove those photos and news,” Katharine said cautiously.
“I see, Katharine. It’s fine with me.”
Her family cared about her feelings, so they informed her. How could she object?
With a smile, Ellie remarked, “No matter Carole’s actions, she’s still a Lambert. In the public eye, she represents our family. Ignoring it could tarnish our reputation.”
Even if they weren’t related, Ellie wouldn’t be upset about Glenn’s actions. Even if it happened to someone she disliked, Ellie still felt pity for the victim.
Because what happened to Carole could happen to any woman.
This highlighted the societal injustice.
It was discrimination against women in society!
When such incidents occurred, people should show sympathy and demand legal repercussions, rather than making sarcastic remarks about it.
She acknowledged that Kaiden was correct. Most of the time, she held strong moral values.
A servant guided Ellie and Kaiden to Carole’s room. Carole was hooked up to an IV drip, and a thick bandage covered her left wrist. She appeared exhausted, her face unnaturally pale. She resembled a lifeless doll.
She had slit her wrist, but luckily, the servant discovered it and intervened in time to save her.
Carole was no longer useful to the Thorpe family as she was not the bone marrow donor for Brisa. Jorge had intended to leave her in the hospital to fend for herself, but Brisa intervened and kept her there.
“Kaiden, Carole was your brother’s love. She’s a good girl. How could such a terrible thing happen to her…?”
Brisa’s voice trembled, tears flowing down her face. She had always been compassionate.
Kaiden remained impassive.
“You can go in and see her,” Brisa offered.
Kaiden frowned and glanced at Ellie involuntarily.
Brisa glanced at Ellie as well.
“Go on. I’ll be waiting outside,” Ellie said.
Carole had narrowly escaped death. Ellie was aware that she shouldn’t prevent Kaiden from checking on her.
Kaiden entered the room.
“El, I’m sorry. I know you’re not fond of Carole, but she’s been looking after me diligently lately. It’s tough for her right now… You’re not upset, are you?” Brisa inquired, watching Ellie anxiously.
Brisa was quite conflicted. She wouldn’t be bossy in presenting her request to others. Nevertheless, she would make a plea, making it difficult for others to refuse her.
Brisa reached out to grasp Ellie’s hand.
Ellie didn’t resist her touch, since Brisa was, after all, Kaiden’s mother. She offered a faint smile and said, “I understand, Brisa.” She did understand. But she couldn’t accept it.
