She began to distance herself from him and even started lying to him.

How could this have happened?

Was she aware of something?

“Sir, what’s the plan with this guy?” A bodyguard emerged, dragging a young man in hotel attire by the collar.

Kristopher gave the young man a casual look.

In a sudden burst of anger, he punched the man!

The young man crumpled to the ground, a tooth shattered instantly.

Before he could react, Kristopher landed another punch.

Blood dripped from the corner of the man’s mouth.

“Sir, I’m so sorry! Please forgive me! Mr. Wright made me do it!” the young man pleaded, tears streaming down his face.

Of course, the Mr. Wright the young man referred to wasn’t Kaiden.

The young man, disguised as a waiter, had attempted to poison Ellie’s food. Thankfully, Kristopher intervened in time, substituting the poisoned meal with one he prepared himself for Ellie.

Luckily, the restaurant followed the Omakase style, ensuring that the secret remained safe even if the dishes were altered.

After the intense fight, Kristopher felt drained of energy. He started panting heavily, his once rosy face now fading into exhaustion.

“Sir!”

The bodyguard moved to assist Kristopher with some medication.

Kristopher stopped the bodyguard’s attempt to retrieve the medicine.

Each time he took medicine, he’d come to the realization that his body wasn’t in good health.

Pointing at the barely conscious man on the ground, Kristopher ordered, “Send him back to my father.”

Sending him back like that was essentially an action meant to provoke Kristopher’s father.

The bodyguard kept quiet, surprised that Kristopher would choose a woman over his own father.

Kristopher made a call and spoke firmly into the phone.

“I warned you to keep your hands off her!”

A voice, sounding like a man in his middle years, came through the phone, “Kristopher, what has that woman done to bewitch you? Your heart’s frail, and it’s all because of her parents. Your mother met her end because of them too. How can you still defend her? I should’ve dealt with her long ago!”

Kristopher bent forward, experiencing a fit of coughing.

His father, Bolton Wright, sneered, “I allowed you to indulge her like a pet when you were a child, Kristopher. But now you’re under her influence. Maybe it’s time to get rid of her!”
