Chapter 720
Daniel closed his eyes tightly, clearly frustrated. This irritating brother-in-law could really be let go.
Kaiden took another glance at Daniel, noticing how his struggle to stay calm and his urge to roll his eyes reminded him so much of Ellie.
The results from the online test came back right away. Despite their reluctance to take a quiz, the students of Critport University, known for being highly competitive, all did well.
Susanna was the only exception. She received the lowest grades, placing last in the class. After the session ended, Ellie called Susanna over. “Susanna, with marks like these, you’re going to flunk!”
Susanna just laughed it off. “I’m studying here from abroad, haha, so they’ll grade me differently!”
Ellie was at a loss for words. Susanna had even considered slacking off! It dawned on Ellie that growing up in the shelter of the Lambert family had its perks for Susanna. If one could always be sheltered, who would choose to brave the storms?
“Ellie! Your husband is here to pick you up!” Suddenly, one male student called out.
A wave of friendly laughter filled the classroom.
Ellie jumped in surprise.
When she looked over, she noticed Kaiden standing at the door. He was tall, with long legs. Though his face was expressionless and naturally aloof, his eyes softened when they landed on her.
The girls in the class clapped their hands over their mouths, thrilled as if a celebrity had just walked in. Indeed, Kaiden’s looks and presence seemed even more impressive than those of a celebrity.
“Miss Gordon, may I come in?” Kaiden asked politely.
Before Ellie could answer, one of the students chimed in, “Absolutely!”
“Mr. Thorpe, you are our school’s sponsor. You’re always welcome here!”
“Sponsor? More like he’s here as Ellie’s husband, right, Mr. Thorpe?”
Ellie couldn’t help but smile at her students’ playful comments. “Have you guys been watching that TV show? Don’t you have enough homework, or what’s making you spend so much time online?”
“Oh no! Ellie seems upset! She’s getting bashful! Mr. Thorpe, you’ve got to save us! Our grades are in her hands!”
Kaiden found their teasing amusing and endearing. Clearly, the students at Critport University were not only intelligent, but also knew how to interact with others in a smart way.
Kaiden walked into the classroom and casually leaned against the podium, fixing his gaze on Ellie as she packed her things. His voice, deep and captivating, filled the room. “Miss Gordon has a generous mind. She wouldn’t take those teasing remarks to heart, right?”
Ellie gave him a quick look before signaling to the other students, adopting a stern tone. “Time to go, everyone! Keep teasing me, and you will all regret it!”
“You’re scaring us, Ellie!” one student feigned fear.
