Flossie’s smile was tinged with nervousness. “I know Miss Gordon.”

Levy, caught off guard for a moment, quickly regained his composure. He picked up on something as he noticed Flossie tightening her grip on his arm.

“Yes, I know her,” Ellie said with a nod, choosing not to elaborate.

Flossie appeared too nervous to meet Ellie’s gaze directly.

Kaiden, blessed with a sharp memory, instantly recalled that Ellie had specifically asked about Levy after their encounter with this young woman in the parking lot.

“Ellie, do you mind showing Flossie around? She’ll be bored with me,” Levy suggested, letting go of Flossie’s hand.

Ellie was more than willing, and Flossie tagged along, wearing a reserved smile. Levy pondered deeply.

Flossie’s lack of resistance to his suggestion and her readiness to accompany Ellie hinted that her unease around Ellie was due to… admiration!

Ellie led Flossie to a quiet spot.

“Boss,” Flossie said, standing with her gaze lowered.

Ellie let out a sigh. “Flossie, regarding your situation with Levy… I shouldn’t interfere with your private life, but are you aware that Levy is known as a playboy? He’s been with so many women that they could team up for a card tournament. He’s not the best choice for a partner.”

“I’m aware,” Flossie gently answered.

“You know? And you still decided to be with him?” Ellie pondered over the gossip she had heard. Could it be that Flossie was the one who initiated pursuing Levy?

Ellie was convinced that Flossie, hailing from an educated family, wasn’t after Levy’s money; her family was financially supportive.

“Boss, I’m aware of what I’m doing and I’m sticking to my decision.” Flossie looked up at Ellie with determination. Then she added, “I appreciate your worry.”

“Okay, I’ll respect your decision,” Ellie said, still worried. “But if you ever need help, just let me know, alright?”

“Thank you, Ellie!”

Using the term “Boss” showed respect for their professional relationship, while “Ellie” signified a deeper, personal connection. Ellie was curious about how Flossie, a brilliant chemist and a year her senior, made the choice to be with Levy.

“Your girlfriend is one of Ellie’s employees,” Kaiden said, giving Levy a look. “Are you serious about her this time?”

Levy caught on to what Kaiden was hinting at. Rather than replying directly, he asked, “What does ‘one of Ellie’s employees’ mean?”

“Ellie funded a laboratory, and your girlfriend plays a big role in that lab,” Kaiden said, making no effort to conceal this fact.

“She also invested in a lab? She’s always full of surprises,” Theo said, looking at Edwin, amazed by how unfazed he was. “Doesn’t this shock you?”

“Why should it? Ellie has her own private island and a helicopter. The fact that she’s invested in a lab hardly comes as a surprise,” Edwin added. “Flossie and Ellie got to know each other at the final round of a chemistry contest. Honestly, if you told me Ellie was a key player in the lab, I wouldn’t be surprised. Her skills in chemistry are incredible!”
