After comforting him, Cayson wasted no time asking the chef to help Ellie regain her healthy weight.

Soon, Cayson got an update. “Mrs. Thorpe, Houston is here. He wishes to see you and apologize, by the way.”

Ellie hadn’t thought about her adoptive father in ages. People change over time, and it seemed he had too.

“I don’t want to see him,” Ellie said firmly before heading upstairs. She saw no point in spending time on people who didn’t matter. Given Houston’s mercenary background, his visit couldn’t just be for an apology.

Cayson, curious, decided to ask Kaiden in the study, half-expecting him to refuse the meeting as well. But to his surprise, Kaiden decided to go out and meet him.

Holding a bunch of expensive health supplements, Houston stood at the entrance of the large house, wearing a sly smile as he greeted Kaiden.

“Ellie didn’t come, did she? I heard she’s expecting and has found her family. I always thought a girl as bright and beautiful as her came from some remarkable background!” Houston remarked.

The Gordon family had its wealth, sure, but they didn’t compare to the Lambert family. Houston’s main aim was to mend fences with Ellie. Even if patching things up with her was off the table, he wanted to use the situation to gain favors from the Lambert family.

Ignoring Houston’s comments, Kaiden asked, “Who was behind Litzy’s actions?”

Houston, now visibly shaken, dropped all the supplements he was holding. “Mr. Thorpe, I swear I have no clue about Litzy! That poor woman lost her mind months ago. Whatever she did to harm Ellie, I had absolutely nothing to do with it! I didn’t even take her remains!” The doormen and bodyguards looked at Houston with disdain.

“Houston, stop using Ellie as a pawn. She’s got nothing to do with the Gordon family.”

The chill in Kaiden’s gaze scared Houston. He quickly agreed, “I know.” Seeing Houston had nothing valuable to offer, Kaiden refused to waste another moment with someone so spineless.

“Make sure Demi stays in line, or else…” Kaiden warned.

That was what brought Kaiden to Houston’s doorstep.

“I’ll keep an eye on her! Anything goes wrong, you’ll be the first to know!”

At this point, Houston didn’t hope for any favors; he was just relieved Kaiden didn’t hold him responsible.

Later that day, Ellie arranged to meet with Baylee, and they visited Flossie.

“Thomasina stirred her fans into thinking Flossie mistreated her, leading her die-hard fans to threaten Flossie harshly,” Baylee smirked as she recounted this. “Thomasina acted all high and mighty with me but turned into a mouse in front of Marvin.” Thomasina, coming from a well-off family, was clueless about Baylee’s importance until Marvin made it clear she had crossed a line. For Marvin’s sake, she had no choice but to calm her fans down, eventually defusing the situation.
