Chapter 808
Jorge’s condition hadn’t changed much; his left side remained paralyzed, necessitating support as he walked, and his speech was still affected. Talon and Erick dutifully played their parts as the supportive son and grandson, sticking close to Jorge.
“Looks like Joselyn didn’t make it again. She claimed work kept her too busy today,” Genesis remarked, her voice heavy with sarcasm.
Joselyn really didn’t feel like coming.
She had no interest in the Thorpe family.
While Kaiden had to come because Brisa was staying there, Joselyn didn’t have to, since she didn’t feel close to anyone in the family. Her presence was purely professional, an invitation from Kaiden himself.
Though Jorge was upset with Joselyn, he ended up mumbling instead of speaking, unable to utter a single coherent sentence and would even start drooling if he got too worked up.
At dinner, Jorge needed someone else to feed him.
Seeing Jorge in such a state, Ellie felt no pity. The only thought crossing her mind was that what goes around comes around.
After dinner, Brisa approached Kaiden. “Your dad wants to see you in his study. Please be polite and don’t upset him, alright?”
Kaiden gave Brisa a calm look, his gaze carrying a hint of disinterest.
“Do you really enjoy coming back to look after a man who’s barely alive?”
“He’s your dad, just unwell. Why call him barely alive?”
Brisa was upset because Kaiden had spoken about Jorge in such a harsh manner.
Kaiden no longer wanted to deal with Brisa. Concerned about leaving Ellie with Talon and his family, he decided to bring her into the study.
Upon seeing Ellie, Jorge pointed at her, his finger shaking.
He indicated that he wanted her to leave.
But Kaiden remained unphased, and eventually, Jorge backed down.
The old butler then presented a share transfer agreement to Kaiden.
“Are you trying to buy me off with these shares?” Kaiden asked icily.
“These belong to your brother. After he passed, your dad reclaimed them. Now, he’s passing them on to you,” the butler explained. “Mr. Thorpe, your father really looks out for you.”
The message was clear: Talon and his family had no stake in these shares, yet Kaiden was receiving these significant shares!
Though Jorge kept a straight face, his look seemed to expect Kaiden to be thankful.
Jorge had made up his mind. Since Talon was no longer dependable, he felt he needed to show favoritism towards Kaiden. This way, Brisa would continue to care for him.
Jorge had suspicions that his recent illness was linked to Talon, yet he lacked proof. Furthermore, he struggled to believe that his once-favored son would go to such lengths.
