Samuel came down the stairs, holding an invitation. He handed it to Hannah. “There’s a gala tomorrow. afternoon Grandpa wants me to take you so he can introduce you to everyone p>
Just as Hannah reached for it, Cherry snatched it away.
“I’m going too!” she declared after reading the invitation. A gala this big meant Quennel would almost certainly be there. This was her chance!
“Says who? Were you invited? Have some shame!” Samuel snapped, grabbing the invitation back and giving it to Hannah.
“Ignore her,” he told Hannah. “Grandma has already had some gowns sent over. They’re upstairs. Go pick one you like p>
Hannah nodded and followed him upstairs.
