Left behind, Cherry sank onto the sofa in a rage, slamming her fists into the cushions.

“What are you yelling for? I’m not deaf!” Gary snapped back, equally furious. “That damn Gloria! I knew something was off when she insisted on coming to the main house. I told her Mom and Dad weren’t here, but she didn’t care. Turns out she was just using me p>
Fuming, Gary grabbed his phone to call Gloria.
“Damn it, the bitch blocked me!” he exclaimed in disbelief, turning to his sister, momentarily at a loss for words.
Cherry was so angry she felt faint. Forgetting all sibling loyalty, she lashed out, “Fine! I knew I shouldn’t have listened to you today. You said we could humiliate her, but look what happened! We’re the ones who got humiliated p>
“Just keep your head down for a while, so Hannah doesn’t decide to bring this up at the dinner table p>
Cherry shot him a venomous glare before storming off.
The next morning, a Saturday, Hannah slept in before heading downstairs for breakfast.
She had just finished eating when a servant announced that Lionel had arrived and was asking to see her.
Samuel, who had just come down, looked at Hannah with an expression of eager anticipation.

Lionel opened the box and presented the necklace to her.
Hannah didn’t even glance at it.

Sometimes she wondered if he was genuinely that foolish or just far too trusting of Owen.
Lionel remained silent.

Hannah couldn’t help but roll her eyes internally.
