She couldn’t believe she hadn’t seen the hidden motives behind it all.

Samuel picked up the thread. “But then Lionel did a bunch of stupid things that inadvertently cleared his name. The Elders realized it wasn’t him, so Quennel got scared and had to push someone else out to take the fall.”

Hannah nodded after hearing their conclusions.

Analyzing the situation, it wasn’t hard to guess who was pulling the strings.

Quennel probably never expected Lionel to do so many foolish things, and that those very actions would accidentally prove his innocence.

So Quennel underestimated him, got sloppy, and left too many suspicious details.

If she, Lionel, and the others could figure this out, there was no way the Rosenberg Elders hadn’t as well.

But the fact that the Rosenbergs were still blaming a servant made it obvious they were protecting Quennel.
