Cherry backpedaled immediately. Peter was the head of the Temple family now; even her own parents deferred to him. She wasn’t suicidal enough to challenge his authority.
“I mean, you must have planned this. You’re obviously after the Temple family’s fortune, so you deliberately sought out my Uncle Peter and tricked him into believing you were Aunt Cheryl’s daughter p>

Frustrated and humiliated, Cherry had no choice but to retreat.
The rest of the meal was uncomfortable. Her grandparents introduced her to the other relatives and asked about her childhood and her marriage to Lionel. Hannah answered everything truthfully. After dinner, she spoke with them for a while longer before returning to her room, calling for Samuel to join her.
