Chapter 780
Listening to the elders’ mockery, the fire of Lionel’s anger burned even hotter. He sat on the sofa, clenching his jaw so hard his face grew even darker.
“Lionel, since Hannah has taken things this far with the divorce proceedings, I advise you to show up on time. Don’t even think about being late, let alone not going. Hannah will surely turn it into a huge issue.”
Mr. Edward Rosenberg said patiently, looking at Lionel.
He was now keenly aware of Hannah’s methods, her capabilities, and her mastery of public relations.
If Lionel were to skip the hearing, Hannah would undoubtedly use it to launch another smear campaign and further tarnish the Rosenberg family’s name.
Because of Lionel, the three of them were already being criticized online. The narrative was that Lionel had turned out this way because of their poor leadership— a classic case of the apple not falling far from the tree.
If it weren’t for Hannah, would they, a group of old men with a combined age of nearly three hundred years, have been dragged onto the internet and cursed out for no reason?
And now, the negative stories were impossible to suppress. As soon as one was taken down, a new one would pop up.
Everyone seemed united in their goal of keeping the topic trending. The sheer solidarity was something they hadn’t even seen when the public was ganging up on other celebrities.
They had managed to get one trending topic taken down earlier, and the backlash had been brutal.
–[Oh look, the old fossils know they screwed up, so they’re scared and trying to bury the story, huh?]
—[Goes to show you what power can do. Lionel’s scandal didn’t get taken down this fast. Now that it’s about the elders, look how quickly vanished Faster than a ro
–[LOL, I didn’t even know what was happening until they removed the story. If they hadn’t tried to hide it, I would have missed it completely!]
–[Gotta say, I only found out about this after the topic was removed. The way these elders operate is just disgusting. So frustrating to watch.]
–[So it’s true, the apple really doesn’t fall far from the tree. I thought Lionel was bad enough, but it turns out the Rosenberg elders are even worse.]
–[OK, after seeing all this, my takeaway is this: I’m boycotting all Rosenberg family products from now on My individual contribution might not be much, but millions of ‘me’ will make a huge difference.]
Content like this was endless, and these were the tamer comments. There were plenty of others that were far uglier, many of which had been deleted by platform moderators.
Mr. Edward Rosenberg couldn’t believe that at his age, he would have to endure something like this. The thought alone was agonizing.
If Lionel failed to show up at court to settle the divorce with Hannah, she would likely use every trick in the book against them.
Thinking of this, Mr. Edward Rosenberg pinched the bridge of his nose.
“Lionel, do not let your personal
affairs run the reputation of the Rosenberg family. Decades of
goodwill for this family, destroyed by
you alone. Dont you think that’s
af
absurd?”
Mr. Edward Rosenberg looked at Lionel and saw how devastated he was by Hannah’s attack. He swallowed the rest of the words he had intended to say.
Lionel wasn’t in a good state right now. If they pushed him too hard, he might have a breakdown.
He could very well become completely self-destructive and, in his despair, drag the entire Rosenberg family down with him.
