Chapter 809
“Or do you think you’re more powerful than the elders now, Quennel? That you can make decisions on their behalf? If so, then go ahead, give the order to kick me out right now.”
With a final cold laugh, Lionel turned and walked towards the upstairs study.
“What you do next is your business. Don’t disturb my reading. And if you’re thinking of sending someone to watch my every move, you’d better first consider if you have the authority. The elders are still alive, Quennel. Don’t overstep your bounds, unless you want to drag your mother down with you.”
Lionel punctuated his parting words with another two cold laughs.
To Quennel, that mocking, arrogant sound felt like his dignity being brutally stomped into the ground.
This was the second time he had suffered such a severe blow since Lionel’s return.
The first was when the elders, impressed by Lionel’s capabilities, had unconventionally promoted him to take over Quennel’s position. Afterward, Lionel had steadily climbed the ladder on his own merit, eventually surpassing him.
The second time was now.
Here he was, mocking him, plotting against him.
But Quennel knew he had no more time to waste. He had to do as Lionel suggested and immediately send people to the three locations to find out where Marcus Hale
was.
The best-case scenario was that the man was still in this house, and not at Hannah’s.
Quennel took out his phone, gave his subordinates their orders, and then prepared to search the house himself.
But just as he stood up to head upstairs, his heart suddenly seized.
A sense of foreboding crept up from the depths of his soul, slowly engulfing him in panic.
He took a deep breath, thought for a moment, and finally decided to go to the Temple family estate himself to check on Hannah.
After all, if Marcus Hale really was at Lionel’s house, he would be notified. But he was afraid that by the time he rushed back, it would be too late.
By then, Marcus might have already restored Hannah’s memory, and it would all be
over.
After weighing his options, he decided that going to the Temple family estate immediately was the most prudent course of action.
The Temple family estate.
Cherry had been trying to convince Hannah to go shopping with her, but Hannah had refused.
“Hannah, the weather is so nice today, why don’t we go shopping? Besides there are new arrivals, and I’ve already contacted the boutique for us.”
“Because something interesting is about to happen. If we go out now, we’ll miss the show.”
Hannah saw Cherry’s disappointed face and raised an eyebrow at her. “Of course, if you really want to go, I won’t stop you.”
The moment she heard something interesting was about to happen, Cherry’s interest was instantly piqued.
She blinked, looking at Hannah excitedly. “What interesting thing? Is it something you did when you secretly went out by yourself the other day?”
.nea
That day, both she and Samuel had been out. When they returned, Hannah mentioned she had gone out alone to handle a few this. They had asked her what she did.
But no matter how much they pried, Hannah wouldn’t say a word.
She had only told them that they would find out in a few days.
Cherry had thought they would have to wait a long time, but she hadn’t expected the day to arrive so soon.
