Chapter 811
“Yes.” Samuel nodded firmly.
Hearing Hannah’s answer, Samuel was instantly relieved, even though he had no idea what she was planning.
But since Hannah had said so and hadn’t asked them to do anything extra, all they could do now was trust her.
Cherry instinctively wanted to ask for more details, but Samuel stopped her. She reluctantly shut her mouth and sat on the sofa, ready to watch the show.
Quennel walked in, looking agitated.
As soon as he entered, his eyes darted to Hannah for a moment before scanning the room. Not seeing Marcus Hale, he couldn’t help but frown.
He was about to ask if Marcus Hale had been there when he noticed Samuel and Cherry sitting nearby.
“Hannah, are you all right?”
Quennel sat down on the adjacent sofa, his composure and demeanor returning to his usual calm and collected self.
Hannah tilted her head, feigning confusion. “Did something happen? Why would you ask me that as soon as you arrive?”
“Lionel has lost his mind and sent someone to run a man over. I was worried you might be involved, that it was just a diversion and he was actually targeting you, so I rushed over to check.”
Sitting on the sofa, Cherry watched Quennel look at Hannah with such a concerned expression, fighting to keep her own face neutral.
She sneered inwardly.
No wonder she’d disliked Quennel from the start. The man was a master of deception.
First Lionel, then Quennel, and those three idiots from the Rosenberg council of elders.
The Rosenberg family was truly a breeding ground for talent of a certain kind. The saying “the rot starts at the top❞ couldn’t be more fitting for them.
Samuel, watching Quennel’s act, shared Cherry’s struggle to maintain a neutral expression.
His eyes half-closed, he asked in a deliberately concerned tone, “Mr. Rosenberg, why would you think that? The man Lionel hit was, Marcus Hale, right? My sister
doesn’t know him.”
At the mention of Marcus Hale’s name, Quennel’s face changed in a flash, but he quickly recovered.
“When I had dinner with Hannah, I introduced him to her. I was worried Lionel thought I was meddling and sent someone to hit his car as a warning to me.”
Quennel hadn’t expected Samuel to find out who the man was so quickly, much less ask about it.
His instinctive reply was full of holes, but now wasn’t the time to dwell on that.
“I have something I need to discuss with Hannah alone. Could you two please step out for a moment?”
As soon as Quennel finished, Cherry retorted sharply.
“Excuse me? This is my house. Are you giving me orders? Are you Rosenbergs so used to being kings of your own castle that you think
you can boss people around in their homes too?”
Cherry crossed her arms, scoffing with disdain. “First it was your three elders, and now you. Do you want me to pull the security footage and post this clip of you ordering me around online?”
Her words made Quennel recall that detail.
“Then Hannah, could you take me to your study? I really have something urgent I must discuss with you alone.”
Quennel’s brow furrowed slightly as he asked, a hint of pleading in his eyes.
