[Cherry Temple]: That’s exactly what I was thinking!

[Cherry]: I seriously can’t believe it, Hannah. You called it yesterday, and today he really did send people to keep pushing this story. Even my friends found out and came asking me about it. And the way they asked was just so off. If I didn’t know them so well, I’d almost believe they just stumbled upon it by accident.

When they first started chatting with me, everything seemed normal. But then, it was like they were suddenly possessed, dropping hints and trying to pry information out of me from every angle.

I kept telling them I didn’t know anything, that I was clueless, but they just wouldn’t stop. It was like they were determined to make me admit I knew something. It was just so bizarre.

If Hannah Green hadn’t warned me about this yesterday, I would have really thought they’d just heard some gossip and were trying to get the details from me.

[Samuel]: Tell me about it. Same thing happened to me. They came at me like they were getting paid for it, refusing to back down until they got the answer they wanted. I finally had to tell them I was going to play video games and invited them to join, but suddenly they were all ‘too busy.’ They just wanted to gossip. These are people who never gossip, and now they’re acting like tabloid reporters.

[Cherry]: Exactly! And they’ve trended so many times before, but my friends never brought it up. This time, it’s not even a trending topic, and they’re all over me. Since when is news from the Rosenberg family so easy to come by?

Hannah watched their conversation, her heart growing heavier. Her brow furrowed as she stared at her phone screen. They were still chatting, but her mind was no longer on the conversation; she was focused on figuring out her next move.

Quennel Rosenberg had clearly bribed these people to start asking questions. If she contmued to pretend she knew nothing, it would look disingenuous. She had to make some kind of statement.

But she didn’t want to get involved in whether Lionel Rosenberg stayed in the family

or not. What she did now was critical, and she had no intention of playing into Quennel’s hands.

Hannah mulled it over while she ate. After finishing her meal, a bold idea suddenly came to her.

Since Quennel had already paid off those people and there were chat logs to prove it, why not use those records to her advantage? She could turn the tables and redirect the blame onto them.

If the Rosenberg elders found out that the details of their private meeting had been leaked by a servant, they would surely investigate to find out which one.

And if that servant had a loose tongue and revealed that Quennel had put them up

to it, then Quennel would have truly played with fire and gotten burned.

In the three years she had been

married to Lionel, she had seen very

little of his older brother, Quennel But every time they did interact, he had always been exceptionally kind and considerate to her.

That made it even harder for her to accept that he was capable of something like

this.
