After Hannah left, Lionel stood frozen in place for a while before dejectedly getting into his car and driving away.

between the two waiters outside but he had no intention of reporting them.

They were right. He was reaping what he had sown. Ignoring everyone, he ate his meal in solitude and then drove home.

Not long after Hannah got home, the news outlets that had been at the airport had already published their photos and stories.
