That night, Lionel’s mind raced with so many thoughts that his head began to ache, yet he still couldn’t come up with a viable plan.

He sat on the balcony, watching the moon set and the sun slowly climb into the sky.

His eyes were bloodshot and heavy, with dark circles forming beneath them. He looked as if he had aged a decade overnight. He had considered everything, except for one thing: signing the divorce papers.

Suddenly, a bold idea shot through his mind. He stood up excitedly, his fingers trembling uncontrollably.

He asked himself over and over again: Do I really want to do this?

If this plan failed, the only outcome left would be divorcing Hannah.

After a long, agonizing moment, he finally picked up his phone and made a call.

The first rays of morning sun streamed through the window, falling across Hannah’s bed.

She still had the week off, so she decided to rest at home. The last few days of travel and fun had been exhilarating but exhausting.

Just after finishing breakfast, she received a message from Grandma Rosenberg, asking if she was free and to give her a call when she had a moment.

Hannah realized then that ever since her fight with Lionel had blown up, she had barely contacted anyone in the Rosenberg family, not even his grandmother. The whole affair had become so public and messy that Hannah was afraid of upsetting the elderly woman.

Lionel had mentioned before that he’d shielded his grandmother from the online drama. Since she rarely followed the news online, she only knew they were getting a divorce, not the full, ugly extent of it.

Hannah picked up her phone and called her.
