Chapter 393

In just a few days at the TV station, Nina had already remembered the names of her colleagues, although she had not interacted with everyone yet.
For instance, she had never spoken to Michelle, the person in front of her.
“That’s how it is,” Nina said, picking up the scattered documents.
Michelle was not pleased. “Why did the editor assign such a task to you? You’ve only just arrived. Who do you think you are?”
Nina sensed the sting in Michelle’s words. “I also feel I might not be up to the task.” She was familiar with this situation. It seemed like this assignment was desirable, so she glanced at Michelle and asked, “Do you want to go?”
Michelle did not answer. With her pride wounded, she gave a cold snort and headed straight to the editor’s office.
Nina was not bothered by Michelle’s arrogance. If Michelle took on the task and the editor approved, it would be for the best.
Although the TV station was highly competitive, Nina had seen enough of the world to know that an interview with Nash might not necessarily be her big break.
She also understood that the editor’s decision was not necessarily based on her capabilities, but rather on her previous association with Nash, which might give her a better chance at securing the interview. “Nina, Michelle is just like that, proud and arrogant. She always thinks she’s the best. Don’t let it affect you,” said Angel Bieber, a colleague sitting beside her.
Angel was young, having joined the TV station less than a year ago after graduating in journalism. Although she lacked experience, she was a sweet girl. Nina tidied up the files and replied, “It’s okay. I’ve dealt with people like her before. I know what they’re like.”
The more competitive the environment, the more you need to fight for your opportunities. Especially in a place like a TV station, where there was a chance to shine, everyone was going to be looking out for themselves.
Angel rolled her chair over, not quite understanding. “Why didn’t you take it? Are you going to let Michelle steal your assignment? If you landed that interview with Nash, you’d be strutting around the TV station just like her. You wouldn’t have to put up with her attitude. You know she’s always stealing the limelight!”
Nina sensed a tinge of resentment in Angel’s tone. “I was initially happy about it, but I’d rather not get involved with Nash.”
“But mark my words, she’s definitely going to snatch it!” Angel already knew the outcome, whether Nina fought for it or not. Michelle was sure to grab the opportunity. It was a necessary step for her advancement.
Sure enough, less than ten minutes later, Michelle emerged triumphantly from the office. “Nina, hand over the files for the Nash interview!” she commanded.
Angel whispered, “See, I told you she’d snatch it.”
Nina felt like she’d just dodged a bullet. Without hesitation, she replied, “They’re all here. Take them if you want.”
Michelle gave Nina a cold look, noticing that Nina did not seem to care much. While others might have been resentful, Nina remained composed.
Michelle emphasized, “The editor has already assigned the interview to me. I’ll nail it within three days. You don’t need to worry about it. Just focus on typing a few words here!”
