Chapter 476
“When I left the York family, I didn’t take it with me, so it’s not mine anymore!” Nina retorted.
Nash pursed his lips, his eyes sharp, and his fists clenched tightly.
“Let’s go,” Scott said to Nina.
Nina followed Scott. Nash, watching their retreating figures, did not stop them but his gaze remained icy.
In the basement parking lot, Nina said to Scott, “I found out the reason for Miranda’s hearing loss. Now I need to make a call.”
With the online discussions heating up, she needed to clarify things to restore Zoe’s reputation.
Scott immediately opened the car door. “Do you need to go to the TV station?”
“Yes, I need to go back,” Nina replied.
Scott promptly drove her to the TV station. Nina had recently taken some leave.
Originally, Michelle had failed to get an exclusive interview with Nash and had sabotaged Nina’s news story, causing a scene at the TV station. The chief editor found out about all of it and gave her a good scolding. As a result, Michelle left a poor impression on the chief editor for being ineffective.
Moreover, the orphanage had been chosen as the debut feature for a popular TV station’s reality show. Michelle’s disruption added to the difficulty of their work, complicating the project’s execution. However, her interview with Miranda became a turning point. She was the only one who had interviewed Miranda, and her report was the first to be released by Starry Sky TV station, somewhat restoring her image as a leading reporter.
When Nina returned, Michelle happened to be leaving. She saw Nina getting out of another man’s car and smirked, “Nina, you’re back? Changing men today?”
Nina looked at Michelle and retorted, “Feeling smug now?”
Michelle replied confidently, “You fall in one place, you get up in another. As long as there’s news, I can make any place my stage.”
“Does that mean you can report anything you want?” Nina asked. “Aren’t you afraid of tarnishing your reputation by rushing for success?”
Michelle had sensationalized her report on Miranda, distorting the truth and losing the essence of real news. For a reporter, this was a significant error.
If her reports were not credible, how could viewers trust her in the future? Nina believed Michelle knew this but chose to do it anyway.
Michelle, brimming with confidence, strutted over in her high heels, looking down at Nina with an air of superiority. “Do you think you’ve won? I’ve been here for years and have never failed. I don’t need you to teach me, Nina. Just watch how I push you out of the game!”
Nina raised her head defiantly. “Alright, I’ll be watching.”
Michelle smirked, “I have an interview to do. Just wait and see.” With that, she strutted away, acting as if victory was assured.
Nina headed to her workstation, where Angel was working diligently at her computer. Angel’s hair was disheveled, and she was so focused that she did not even notice Nina approaching.
Nina tapped her shoulder. “Working hard on news articles now? Didn’t you say you didn’t like just sitting here typing away every day?”
Angel turned around, stunned to see Nina, thinking she was dreaming. “Nina, you’re finally back!” She burst into tears.
Surprised, Nina asked, “What’s wrong?”
She quickly grabbed some tissues to wipe Angel’s tears.
Angel cried out, “I’ve been bullied!
“Michelle got burned during her exclusive interview and was mocked by the entire department. Somehow, she got a major scoop, and the chief editor put her back in the spotlight. Now that she’s favored again, she’s been taking it out on me, giving me tons of work. I’ve been writing news articles nonstop, barely sleeping four hours a night these past few days…”
