Chapter 452

“Are you talking about the trafficking case?” Ben responded, “I remember, it was a very serious criminal case, and I was involved as a defense lawyer.”
At that time, there was no public trial. There were many dark things involved and he had a strong impression of it.
“Yeah.” Ben was no stranger to this matter. Nash then said to him, “It was also around this time that Miranda left the country without notice.”
Ben added, “It might just be a coincidence. Miranda is just a girl. She shouldn’t be involved in such a big case.”
If she was involved in this case, it would probably involve even more people around her. It would also indicate that Miranda was not simple.
Ben had very little contact with Miranda. He had been friends with Nash for many years, and had only met her a few times. He wouldn’t befriend her either. “Let’s hope not.”
Nash could only say that, “But you know, even though the case was solved, the mastermind behind it was never caught.”
“There were many suspicious points, and you also suffered a serious head injury because of it. Now, you easily forget things when you drink too much.”
Ben continued to discuss this with him.
“Back then, you rescued a girl. I remember you told me that both of you were risking your lives. I don’t know if you still remember.”
Nash hesitated for a moment before saying lightly, “I have some impression.”
He had infiltrated the enemy as an undercover agent on a mission to rescue some women and children who had been trafficked.
It was a massive organization. They were involved in not only human trafficking but also guns and drugs.
They were ruthless, and their activities were extremely heinous.
There was a small dark room where someone was always on guard, keeping a girl locked inside. It was different from where the other abducted women were detained. Nash’s eyes darkened as he fell into thought.
But Ben did not give him a chance to ponder, continuing, “It’s been many years. Many of the criminals have been caught. If there is still a mastermind behind it all, I’d hope they wouldn’t show up. If they do, you’ll be their first target.”
However, Nash replied, “I actually hope they do show up.”
“Nash, you’re not in the military anymore. Dwelling on these things won’t do you any good. As for Miranda… if she really is who you think, she’ll slip up eventually. But I don’t want you taking unnecessary risks. In your current position, there’s no longer a girl who needs your rescue.” Ben’s tone was grave, warning him.
Nash was now the CEO of the York Corporation, not a soldier in the military. He had no obligation to save anyone anymore. He had already given everything, almost living on the edge of danger.
“I understand,” Nash replied, “Times have changed.”
“Good that you know.”
After the call, Nash sensed someone at the door and sharply looked over, asking, “Who?”
The person at the door gathered courage and pushed it open.
Nina stood before him, her gaze steady as she said politely, “Sorry to disturb you. I originally had a question for the doctor, but I didn’t expect to find you here.”
Nash spotted her, and his gaze intensified. He replied, “The doctor isn’t in the office.”
“I already know,” Nina said, about to close the door. “I’ll come back later to find him.”
With that, Nina started to leave again.
“Nina,” Nash called out to her.
Nina paused at the door, turning to look at him. “Is there anything else?”
Nash walked over a few steps and whispered, “Don’t get involved in Zoe’s matter.”
