Chapter 643

Seth did not say anything more. But seeing Sawyer’s smug expression, thinking Seth was under his control, irritated Seth greatly.
“Equal partners? No need for that!” Seth refused, knowing well that Sawyer’s words were just a façade. He had no intention of becoming complicit with him. “You can keep your crown.”
Sawyer, seeing Seth so compliant, did not press the issue. He knew he had Seth’s weakness firmly in his grip. No matter how loyal Seth was to Pharaoh, he had to think of a way to protect his own life and his daughter’s life too. With this understanding, Sawyer felt that Seth’s release from prison posed no real threat to him.
As Seth left, his face was dark with brooding thoughts. Sawyer watched him go, a sly grin playing on his lips.
“Are you really going to let him go? Aren’t you afraid he’ll snitch?” one of Sawyer’s men asked.
“He won’t dare,” Sawyer replied confidently. “Besides, if we move against him, Pharaoh will start asking questions.”
He could not afford to kill Seth. If Seth died, Pharaoh would become suspicious, and Sawyer’s days of prosperity would come to an end.
Seth returned to his hideout. It was an abandoned factory overgrown with weeds and a place rarely visited by anyone. The exterior was rundown, but the upper floors housed a hidden laboratory. Suddenly, he heard a noise and became alert. “Who’s there?”
“It’s me, Dad.”
Miranda navigated through the tall grass to reach the flat ground. Seth saw her and kept his stern demeanor. “I told you not to come here. Did anyone follow you?”
“Don’t worry. I changed cars several times before coming here,” Miranda reassured him.
Seth glanced at the monitors displaying footage from cameras around the area. Seeing no suspicious activity, he relaxed slightly. He gestured for Miranda to sit down while he boiled water to make tea. “Dad, why do you stay in such a desolate place? Are you sure you’re comfortable here?” Miranda asked, showing the mosquito bites on her arms. “I can buy you a nice house with my money now.”
“This place is quiet, with no people around. It’s perfect for keeping a low profile. Moving to a bustling area would only make things more complicated,” Seth replied, preparing the tea.
“Shouldn’t you be with your boyfriend? What brings you here?” Seth asked, setting a cup of tea in front of Miranda.
Miranda’s face radiated happiness as she eagerly shared the news, “You used to worry about Nash and me, but today I came to tell you that Nash is on my side now. He’s entirely devoted to me. All the issues you worried about don’t exist. Your daughter is going to be happy.”
Seth, sitting across from her, asked, “What has he done?”
Miranda continued, “He’s going to such lengths for me. He’s making sure that woman loses everything, even though she’s carrying his child! He’s so gentle with me now. I told you we have a deep connection. He was just resentful because I left him for so long. It just took him seeing my genuine love to realize it.”
Seth remained silent.
Miranda continued, “When will you meet him? I really care about your approval.”
“He’s Sally’s son. I’m just your foster father,” Seth said.
“Don’t mention her!” Miranda’s face darkened with a sneer. “If she hadn’t raised Nash, do you think I’d have anything to do with her? Everything I do is to get closer to Nash!”
“Understood,” Seth said with little emotion. “Let’s see how things go. If he truly loves you, I’ll meet him.”
