“I need to see Nina!” Scarlett could not wait any longer in the hospital room.
“No way. You’re a prisoner. You can’t leave the room,” James replied.
“You can follow me, can’t you? Do you think I can run in my current state?” Scarlett could not understand his stubbornness.
James was firm. “Without orders from above, you can’t take a single step out of this room.”
Seeing he was unmoved, Scarlett’s expression hardened. “What if I insist on seeing her?”

Before he could finish, Scarlett slapped him hard across the face.
James was taken aback by her fierceness. He had not expected her to get physical. He had been disciplined before, but never hit by a woman. “You shrew…”
Scarlett, balancing on her crutch, kicked at him again. She was not one to back down easily. She had tolerated him long enough, with all the rules and strict treatment. Being cooped up in the hospital room was driving her crazy. She just wanted to see Nina, but he wouldn’t let her, and she couldn’t stand it anymore.

She was still a girl, so he felt he had to go easy on her. But her moves were relentless and precise, despite her injuries.
He could not bring himself to fight back aggressively, feeling it would not be right. Trying to balance between defending himself and not hurting her was exhausting for James.
Felix continued to watch, amused. “Scarlett, give James a break. You’re right! He’s a big good and just a stickler for rules.”

James let go of her, touching his sore face. “I’m not a pervert. I was trying to help you…”
Scarlett did not believe him, quickly retrieving her crutch.
She exclaimed, “I’ve seen men like you before, hiding behind the guise of protection to take advantage of women. You’re no different just because you’re in the army. If my leg were healed, I’d beat you to a pulp!”
