Chapter 882

“Did you really save me?” Nash’s lips curled into a sneer before Miranda could finish her sentence.
Standing before her, Nash’s imposing tall frame loomed like a mountain, especially with the cold, dark glint in his eyes. In that moment, he exuded the aura of a high and mighty ruler, and Miranda found this version of Nash utterly unfamiliar. Even though Nash had always been distant and cold towards her, it had never felt like this. Nash knew enough about the past to see through her lies.
It was no use lying anymore. Besides, Nash’s indifference had only grown more apparent over time. She had given up.
“Does it really matter if it was me? Nash, your heart is all for Nina. But you know the obstacles between you two, don’t you?” Miranda’s smile widened. Nash said nothing, but the intensity in his eyes grew.
As harsher punishments were inflicted on Miranda, Nash watched coldly. He did not need her to remind him of the differences between his and Nina’s statuses.
Meanwhile, Wilfred led Nina forward. She was weak and nauseous, and after a while, she couldn’t go on and vomited violently.
Seeing her like this, Wilfred was deeply worried. “Nina, it’s still a long way to Nash. You have to pull yourself together. Otherwise, Seth’s men will catch up!”
Wilfred didn’t want to stop for a moment. He had only one thought. Nina must be safe.
Nina knew this too. But the thought of her connection to the Pharaoh, the countless people he had killed, and the experiments he had conducted made her feel out of control. Then there were the memories that haunted her mind. She was the Pharaoh’s biological daughter. Who was the person who took her to the slave camp for experiments?
Her mind was a whirlwind of thoughts. She leaned against a tree, gasping for air. “Wilfred, if I can’t keep going, you should run. Don’t…”
“Do you think I would leave you behind?” Wilfred held her hand firmly, his gaze resolute.
If he could have left her, he wouldn’t have saved her when she was poisoned, nor would he have stayed by her side or re-entered the Yaren tribe he wanted to avoid.
Nina gave a bitter smile. “The Pharaoh and Seth won’t let me die. But Wilfred, you’re different. I don’t want you to die.”
Wilfred grasped her shoulders. “Nina, when you were in the slave camp, you encouraged me and Scarlett. You protected us. Without you, we wouldn’t be here today. You can’t die, do you hear me? Don’t you still want to be with Nash?” Nina was exhausted. She tried to stay awake, to keep her eyes open, but her eyelids grew heavier.
She feared she wouldn’t last much longer. Wilfred could run faster without her, but if he stayed…
She smiled weakly and pale. “Wilfred, I came here to help people. I don’t want to be a burden. Leave me and go. If I survive, we’ll meet again someday.”
