Chapter 937

He felt a deep ache for Nina. These five years, she had braved countless dangers. From the moment he woke up and confirmed her location, he had been protecting her from the shadows.
It was not that he did not want to see her.
He could not and did not dare.
Nina did not want to hear his excuses. She laughed bitterly, “Yes, if I hadn’t forced you, you would still be hiding from me. Nash, what am I to you?”
Nash cared for her, leaving her all his assets, ensuring she had a safe escape route. But Nash had left her alone for so many years. If he had just given her a bit of news, she would not have suffered so much, and she would not be breaking down like this now. Nash did not respond. It was not because he did not want to, but because he could not. His throat felt constricted, making it difficult to breathe or speak. He desperately wanted to hold Nina, but he did not dare, not until she had vented her emotions. “Nash, speak up! Don’t play dumb here!” Nina gritted her teeth and repeated. Her eyes, bloodshot, locked onto Nash’s, tears streaming down her face like a breached dam. She was falling apart.
Nash’s breath hitched. Hearing footsteps, he quickly put his mask back on. He gripped Nina’s shoulders, “Nina, it’s not that I didn’t want to find you. There are things I need to deal with first. Stay safe here. I’ll come back for you once it’s done.” With those words, he did not even give Nina a hug before turning and walking away swiftly.
Watching Nash’s departing figure, Nina felt a heavy weight settle in her chest. Suddenly, it was as if the air had been sucked out of her surroundings. Her legs gave way, and she collapsed to the ground.
“Ivy!” Micah’s urgent voice called out as he rushed to her side.
As Micah helped Nina to her feet, he noticed her tear-streaked face. His brows furrowed deeply. “What’s wrong?” he asked.
The moment Nina got separated, Micah had his men search for her everywhere. He had a meticulous plan, and just moments ago, they had broken Seth’s forces and captured a wounded Seth. All his men had surrendered. Rushing to find Nina, he did not expect to find her unharmed but so heartbroken.
Or could it be…
Nina shook her head, “I’m fine.” She wiped her tears away.
Nash had left without any explanation, despite being alive all these years and not contacting her. She understood he had his reasons. Everyone believed Nash was dead. It was better not to draw attention to him. She had no idea of his current situation. Micah did not believe her but did not press further. Instead, he wrapped an arm around her shoulder, “Let’s go back, Nina.”
“Okay,” she nodded, following Micah.
As they walked, she saw the captured Seth. He looked unchanged from five years ago, but his eyes were fixed on her.
Nina had not forgotten the agony of being poisoned, the pain inflicted by Seth. Such villains deserved to experience that pain a hundredfold.
She saw Seth being dragged away. He looked much the same as he did five years ago, but his eyes were fixed intently on her.
Nina had not forgotten the torment she and Nash endured from his poison.
Someone as vile as Seth deserved to experience a hundred times the suffering he had inflicted!
