Chapter 855

Nina was the key figure, capable of influencing Nash and drawing out Wilfred. Although Micah had no intention of making Nash his enemy, his true target was Wilfred. Staying on guard, regardless of whether they were friend or foe, was wise. Nina weighed the pros and cons, tightening her grip slightly. She did not speak, but her silence spoke volumes.
“If you really need his contact information, I’ll stay, but they must leave,” Nash said, shielding Nina, unwilling to leave her behind.
Micah gave Nina a look, “Weren’t you asking me earlier? Don’t you care about Nash’s health?”
If Nina stayed, Scarlett and Scott could leave, Nash would be safe, and Micah implied he could provide Nash with an antidote. It was a good deal.
“Yes, I’ll stay,” Nina agreed, not waiting for Nash to speak. She was willing to do anything to ensure everyone’s safety.
“No,” Nash said firmly. He could not leave Nina behind, not even if it meant his own death.
Micah chuckled, “Nash, you want to stay, but what benefit do you bring me?”
Micah knew Nash infiltrated to find Nina and potentially destroy them. Given Nash’s position, Birkham would never allow their military leader to be detained.
“You have one choice. I can send you out now, or neither of you will leave,” Micah declared coldly.
Although Micah had not initially expected Nina to be brought in by Ivy, once she was, he placed Mr. Joker by her side to meet her demands. He planned to unravel the mysteries slowly, but Nash’s arrival disrupted his plans significantly. “Nash, stop hesitating. You’re a soldier. You know the principle of sacrificing the individual for the greater good.”
Scarlett was involved again because of Nina, Scott was trapped because of her, and Nash was poisoned because of her. If Nash recovered, his presence could bring stability and peace to this land.
“Enough!” Nash shouted, losing control.
He learned the spirit of self-sacrifice and serving the greater good on his first day in the military. How could he not understand it?
But to push Nina away himself, he could not do it.
“Nina, my whole life has been about duty and responsibilities, trying to protect and perfect everything. But I neglected the people around me. I can’t leave you behind. If we’re going to leave, we’ll leave together. If we’re going to die, we’ll die together.” Nash’s gaze was resolute, without a hint of hesitation.
Before Nina could respond, a deafening explosion shattered the sky.
Micah immediately signaled his men, who surrounded Nash.
Seizing the moment, Micah grabbed Nina.
But Nina was not one to be underestimated.
She pressed her gun to Micah’s forehead and whispered a fierce warning, “Micah, you’ve helped us a lot, and I don’t want to hurt you! Right now, order your men to stand down!”
