Chapter 486

Nash effortlessly picked her up and said softly, “Since you won’t listen to me, I have no choice but to do this.”
Nina was annoyed and retorted, “Are you a robber? Forcing me like this!”
“It’s better than you acting on impulse!”
“How am I acting on impulse?” Nina countered.
Nash’s expression became more serious as he replied calmly, “Do you remember the last time you were overworked and almost had a miscarriage? Today, you’ve been busy with Miranda’s issue, haven’t you?”
Hearing this, Nina’s agitation subsided. “What does that have to do with me taking a taxi home?”
Nash had already carried her to the car and put her down, staring at her intently. “What if your stomach starts hurting on the way? You just said it hurt a moment ago. How can I be at ease letting you go home alone?”
His words revealed his concern for her.
So he remembered.
Nina bit her lip, remaining silent for a moment. She could feel Nash’s worry and care but feared it was just her wishful thinking. She had not forgotten the hurtful things he had done before.
Nevertheless, his concern was genuine. “You pulled me earlier, but I’m fine. It happened once. It won’t happen again. I’ve been careful to rest.”
Despite this, Nash was not convinced. His tone became more forceful. “We’re already here. If you don’t want me to carry you, get in the car.”
Nina looked into Nash’s eyes. His gaze told her he would do whatever it took to achieve his goal. Not wanting to make a scene, she obediently got into the car.
Quincy, the driver, watched their interaction through the rearview mirror. Despite their tense relationship, he could not help but feel that their bond had deepened.
Quincy smiled and greeted Nina, “Good evening, madam.”
Nina pursed her lips and reminded him, “Nash and I are getting a divorce. We haven’t managed to finalize it yet, but the marriage certificate is torn. The divorce will happen as soon as I have time. Stop calling me ‘madam.””
Quincy, unfazed, continued to smile. “But you’re not divorced yet. You’re still legally Mrs. York.”
Nina paused. “Once we have time, that will change. People usually consider a couple as good as divorced once they’ve decided to separate. The title should change too.” Quincy, still hoping they would not divorce, tried to be optimistic. “I think it’s not really about a lack of affection. There might just be a misunderstanding between you two.” Nina wanted to clarify her relationship with Nash. “There’s no misunderstanding. This title bothers me.”
“I see you really don’t want to be Mrs. York,” Nash commented, interpreting her words as a rejection of any connection to him.
“Not right now,” Nina said bluntly.
“When you married me, why didn’t you say you didn’t want to?” Nash said in a low voice. “Do you think being my wife is something you can choose to be or not be at will?” Nina looked up at him. “What do you mean by that?”
She feared Nash might change his mind. Previously, when he tore the marriage certificate, he had been firm about the divorce. She thought he had decided.
Some things should not drag on. Delaying could lead to new complications.
Nash turned his head and studied her for a while before saying, “Haven’t you lied several times to achieve your goals?”
