Miranda saw Nash through the glass window. He looked like he was barely hanging on.
She grabbed the man in the camouflage uniform, her eyes red with anxiety. “How is he? Is he seriously injured? How did he get hurt so badly, and when will he wake up?”

“Don’t be ridiculous!” Miranda’s voice was shaky, but she tried to maintain her composure. “Why would I want to harm you? What do you have that’s worth harming? I’m just worried about Nash. And if you accuse me without evidence, that’s slander. I’m a big star now and I can’t tolerate false accusations. I could sue you for what you just said!”
Yvonne, seeing her arrogance, could not help but retort, “You’re really shameless, accusing others. Right now, you’re the prime suspect!”
“Don’t talk nonsense!” Miranda snapped at Yvonne. “I’m here to see Nash, not to argue with you. It’s beneath me.”
“What’s beneath you? Aren’t you just an artist under Nash’s company?” Yvonne sneered. “By that logic, you should be calling Nina ‘Mrs. York’!”
The term made Miranda clench her fists. She said, “Sally will be here soon. If you don’t want a scene, you’d better keep quiet.”
Nina noticed Miranda’s guilty expression. “Are you feeling guilty? Remember, you’re a public figure. If your dirty deeds are exposed, you’ll be ruined. Not only will you be kicked out of the entertainment industry but you’ll also go to jail. You’d better know your place.”
Miranda glared at Nina. “Don’t worry. I cherish my reputation. That day will never come.”
Nina did not back down, coldly responding, “Those are your words. I hope you live up to them with integrity.”
