Nina was still a bit groggy and she asked in a hoarse voice, “What made it?”
“The drama,” Nelly said excitedly. “We’ve made a comeback!”
Nina was instantly wide awake.
She sat up quickly and grabbed her phone to check the news about their drama. Yesterday it was ranked second, but today it had climbed to first place.
The viewership had multiplied several times overnight, and the reviews were getting better and better. It was breaking real-time popularity records.
Nina could not help but feel a huge surge of joy. If the popularity continued to rise and the storyline held up, things would only get better.
The worry that had been weighing on her lifted, and she felt a wave of happiness. Hard work did pay off. If one put in enough effort, dreams would indeed come true. She quickly got ready to meet up with the others.
She ran into Wilfred downstairs, who was driving his car. He rolled down the window. “Where are you headed? I’ll give you a ride.”
Nina, in a good mood, did not refuse. She got in the car, ready to share the good news with him.
But Wilfred spoke first. “Congratulations! Your drama is doing really well.”
“Thank you,” Nina smiled. “Heaven rewards those who work hard. As long as we break even, it’s good enough for me. I need to make enough money for my son’s future.” She had bet everything she had on this. Judging by the trend, she would not just break even. She would probably make a profit.
This was great news for Nina. If a drama series did well, it meant good things for both the investors and the actors.
Wilfred then asked with a smile, “How do you know it’s a boy?”
Nina patted her belly and said, “Actually, I’d be happy with a girl too. It doesn’t really matter. I just have a feeling it’s a boy.”
It was her sixth sense telling her.
Wilfred did not say much and just glanced at her belly.
Nina remained optimistic, not dwelling on the topic of death. Once she had the baby, things might not be so bad.
They said that a baby would absorb her nutrients, weakening her body and shortening her life.
But for now, having the baby inside her gave her a sense of security. For her child, she would stay strong and fight to live.
“Make sure you get plenty of rest too,” Nina said, looking at Wilfred with concern. “You look like you’ve lost weight.”
Wilfred instinctively hid his true feelings, replying calmly, “I’m fine. Don’t worry about me.
“We’re here.” Wilfred parked the car smoothly at the entrance and reminded her.
Nina quickly got out. She waved goodbye to Wilfred and headed inside. His car remained parked for a while before finally driving off.
As soon as Nina entered, she was greeted with the sound of party poppers and a shower of confetti.
“Today is the day for surprises. We did it!” Nelly was the most excited.
“Check out my headband! It’s got Penelope on it!” Angel twirled around, showing off a headband featuring the character played by Penelope in the show.
Nina brushed off the confetti and asked, “It’s only the second day, and you’ve already got accessories made?”
Angel replied, “I didn’t make it. They’re selling it online. They’ve got headbands, figurines, keychains, everything!”
“Already?” Nina was skeptical.
“The internet works fast. They had stock ready in two hours!” Angel showed her the online store. The merchandise for ‘Glory’ was already available. Nina was amazed. “The internet really is fast. The response is incredible.”
“Isn’t it cute?”
Angel was quite impressed with the merchandise.
Penelope said, “They’re so lifelike. You have to admire the creativity and speed of people sometimes.”
