With Nina saying this, Pharaoh knew he could not convince her to stay any longer. He repeated his earlier words, “Use what I’ve given you. Don’t feel embarrassed. Besides that, I have nothing else to offer you.”
He wanted to give her companionship, fatherly love, but after so many years apart, even though she had accepted him, they could not have a typical father-daughter relationship. Instead, he thought it better to offer her financial support, so she could get whatever she needed. “I understand. I’ve never blamed you. I’ll visit when I can, and you’re welcome to come to Birkham too,” Nina replied with a smile.
Between them, there was never any blame. It was just that when Nina first discovered he was her father, the initial shock and the harsh reality hit her hard. But those feelings had passed.
Hope flickered in Pharaoh’s eyes. “Really?”
His only wish now was to have a genuine relationship with Nina, to be a normal father and daughter. If she allowed him to visit Birkham, it would be more than he could hope for. He could be by her side, help take care of Orion, and even work on repairing and nurturing their bond.
“Really. If you have the time, you’re more than welcome in Birkham. You’re my father, and you’re Nash’s grandfather,” Nina said warmly.
She had seen the change in Pharaoh.
“Good. Once I finish up here, I’ll come. I’ll call you before I get on the plane.”
“Okay.”
Pharaoh embraced Nina.
Afterward, he personally saw off Nina, Nash, and Orion as they left.
Over with Freya, despite not having any special medicine, she had had enough of lying in bed. The moment she got out, Micah was there, striding up to her.
He blocked her way and questioned furiously, “Freya, have you lost your mind?”
Her wounds had not fully healed, yet she dared to get out of bed. If that wasn’t insanity, what was?
“I’m not crazy. I’m just tired of being cooped up in bed. I wanted to get up and move around. Don’t worry, I know my limits.”
With such a great opportunity in front of her and seeing Micah so concerned, how could she be reckless now?
“You want to walk around? If you need to get up, let me help you. Don’t try to push yourself. Unless, of course, you really do have a death wish. Remember your injuries!” Micah scolded her again. Despite his harsh words, he quickly found a wheelchair for Freya.
Supporting her, he said, “If you want to go somewhere, just tell me. Don’t try to act tough. At least for this month, I’ll take care of you.”
It seemed Micah had accepted his role as her boyfriend for the month.
Freya took a deep breath, trying to contain her excitement. “I want… to go outside, maybe get something good to eat. I think I can handle it. I was even thinking of going to see Nina…”
She wanted to go to Birkham, thinking a change of scenery would open up new possibilities. Surely, over time, Micah would develop feelings for her.
But before she could finish speaking, Micah cut her off sharply, “You really don’t think things through, do you? Do you honestly think you’re in any condition to be on a plane?” Freya was still injured, and long-distance travel was not advisable.
Despite his angry tone, Freya felt a wave of warmth. Micah’s sternness showed that he cared.
