Chapter 1033

Unexpectedly, in just a moment, Micah and Freya had lost track of Nina and the others.
Freya thought about trying to find them, but Micah suggested, “We’re all adults with phones. There’s GPS and we won’t get lost. Let’s take a walk over there instead.”
Freya considered it and realized he had a point. She followed him in the opposite direction. After a few steps, they came across a little girl selling flowers. She looked about seven or eight, with a thin frame and worn-out clothes. “Miss,” the little girl approached Freya, holding up a bundle of flowers. “You’re so beautiful. Would you like to buy some flowers?”
Before Freya could respond, the girl continued, “I picked these flowers this morning. They’re really cheap, and if you buy one, I’ll throw in another for free.”
She was starving and desperately wanted something to eat. But she had not sold a single flower all day, and her sick mother and baby sister were at home waiting for her. If she did not make any money, what would they do? The more the little girl thought about it, the more her eyes filled with tears.
“How many flowers do you have here? I’ll buy them all,” Freya said, moved by sympathy. She thought it was only right to help the little girl. The money meant little to her but could make a world of difference for this child. “You’re really going to buy all of them?” The little girl was stunned, barely able to believe it.
Freya nodded. “Of course. Just tell me how much.”
The girl’s face lit up with a smile. With that money, she could finally get food and medicine for her mother. Today must be her lucky day, meeting such a kind person.
She quickly bent down to calculate the total. Since Freya was buying so much, she even offered a discount.
“Take this money, but make sure to hide it so no one else sees,” Freya said, handing her more money than the flowers were worth.
The little girl shook her head, refusing to accept the extra. “Miss, you’ve already given me too much. My flowers aren’t worth that much.”
“Consider the extra as a down payment. Next time I need flowers, I’ll come find you,” Freya insisted as she bent down to pick up the flowers. Realizing she could not carry all of them herself, Freya looked to Micah for help.
“I’ll carry them,” Micah offered, taking the flowers from the basket.
The little girl hesitated for a moment, then accepted the money. She promised herself that when she saw this kind lady again, she would give her even more flowers as thanks. What they did not notice was that a group of local thugs had been eyeing them.
“Let’s head over and check out the food stalls,” Freya said after arranging the flowers. She and Micah walked away together.
But just after they left, the thugs sprang into action, grabbing the little girl’s money.
“Give it back! That’s my money! I earned it!” the girl cried, chasing after them.
But how could she, a small child, outrun these strong men?
Hearing the commotion, Freya quickly shoved the flowers into Micah’s arms. “Wait here. I’ll be right back.”
Before Micah could respond, she dashed off toward the thugs.
Not far ahead, there was a small pond with many people standing around, enjoying the scenery. The thugs tried to dodge, but they could not get away in time. Freya caught them right on the spot. She caught the leader by the ear, scolding him angrily, “Stealing from a little girl? Have you no shame? Give her money back right now!”
