In a company as large as theirs, there weren’t many people dressed as sharply as that. At most, there were only two.
Jamie guessed the figure outside the door wasn’t Noah.
With a faint smile to her assistant, she said, “It’s probably Ben. After all, I’m his secretary. It’s only right to support my boss.”
The assistant nodded, thinking her reasoning made sense.
Outside, Ben raised an eyebrow, the corners of his lips curling into a satisfied smile before walking away.
After the distinct glimpse of his suit disappeared, Jamie’s smile deepened. Saying something like that to make him happy once in a while wouldn’t hurt.

In the blink of an eye, Charlie had already been attending kindergarten for over half a month.
Jamie called his teacher, Miss Georgia, to ask about his behavior at school, only to be met with glowing praise.
“Charlie’s mom, you have no idea. Charlie is the easiest child I’ve ever had to look after. He’s just wonderful,” Miss Georgia gushed.
Hearing Miss Georgia’s enthusiastic recount of Charlie’s good behavior, Jamie felt a wave of relief.
Charlie was even more well-behaved than she had imagined.
“Charlie, Miss Georgia told me you’ve been doing so well at school. I’m so proud of you,” Jamie said, running her fingers affectionately through his hair.
Charlie flushed, his ears turning red as he shyly mumbled, “I just remembered what Mommy told me.”
Jamie’s heart melted.
Who wouldn’t adore such a sweet and obedient child, especially when he was her own son?
Feeling generous, Jamie promised, “Whatever Charlie wants, Mommy will make it happen.”
She expected him to ask for something fun or delicious to eat, but instead, he blinked his big eyes at her and said, “Can Uncle Ben come over so we can make ravioli together?” “Make ravioli?” Jamie was surprised by his unusual request.
Charlie explained that it was a school project meant to bring families closer together.
“It’s just that I’ve never met my dad or know where he is, so I thought maybe Uncle Ben could take his place,” Charlie said innocently.
His words pricked Jamie’s heart.
Even though Charlie didn’t know who his father was, it was clear he had already started seeing Ben as a father figure.
Jamie crouched down, her lips trembling as she tried to find the words. “Charlie, actually…”
She wanted to tell him the truth that Ben was his father.
But before she could, her phone rang abruptly, cutting through the moment.
Wiping her face quickly, Jamie answered the call. “Hello, Ben? You’re coming over tonight, right? Great timing! Charlie and I were just talking about making ravioli. Could you bring some ravioli sheets with you?”
After hanging up, she patted Charlie’s head. “Alright, Uncle Ben will be here later.” Charlie bounced with excitement, running off to grab candy from his room.
Watching him run off, Jamie felt a pang of sadness.
When would the right time come to tell him the truth?

When Ben arrived, he wasn’t carrying a package of ready-made ravioli sheets but rather two bags of flour.
Jamie stared at him, dumbfounded.
Walking in with the bags, Ben looked thoroughly out of place.
“Where are the ravioli sheets?” Jamie asked, hefting the flour and feeling a bit overwhelmed.
It wasn’t that they couldn’t roll out

The truth was he didn’t know the difference between ravioli sheets and wonton wrappers, and after being corrected by a store clerk, he felt too embarrassed to go back and look again. Flour seemed like a safer bet.
Jamie sighed but decided to roll with it. “Alright, we’ll just make the ravioli sheets from scratch.”
Making the dough wasn’t hard. Once it was ready, Jamie split it into three portions: one for herself, one for Ben, and a small piece for Charlie.
