Chapter 736

Nina felt puzzled, “Why?”
Scarlett thought for a moment and then found an excuse, “He’s always busy in the lab and can’t take calls. It’s best not to disturb him. When he’s done, he’ll definitely come to see you. This way, he won’t be distracted from his research.” Nina thought Scarlett made a lot of sense. She did not want Wilfred to be distracted either, knowing he had more important things to handle.
“Okay, I’ll wait until he’s not busy,” Nina said without thinking much more about it.
Scarlett looked at Nina and saw the joyful smile on her face. However, Scarlett was looking a bit uneasy. Worried Nina might overthink things, she hesitated to say more.
Instead, she gratefully said, “Captain York has been really good to me. Thanks to you, he gave me a new identity. I owe everything to you and him. I won’t ever let you down.”
She spoke as if making a vow, but Nina responded, “You’re being too polite. We’re friends. You used to protect me, and now it’s my turn to protect you. Even if it’s thanks to Nash, as long as I’m here, I won’t let anyone bully you.” Scarlett nodded and leaned on her shoulder, “It’s so good. I feel really happy now.”
Nina smiled indulgently and hugged her, “I still need you to teach me self-defense.”
“Then make sure you take care of yourself and recover well. I’ll teach you everything I know,” Scarlett generously offered.
Nina smiled without saying anything, feeling content with her current life. She did not ask for much, just peace and simplicity.
After Scarlett left, Nina was alone. During this time, Penelope and others visited her, so she was not bored. But she often felt an emptiness, perhaps from eagerly anticipating holding her baby, making her feel restless.
While she was in her recovery, she could not attend the awards ceremony and had to watch the live broadcast instead. The drama had reached the highest ratings in history from its start to the finale, becoming a massive hit.
Not only did Penelope’s popularity soar, but it also launched the career of the new actor, Ivan. It was said that any male actor paired with Penelope would become famous.
Many companies now wanted their new artists to work with her. She had no shortage of roles, which was exactly what Nina had hoped for. Penelope had finally made it big, and at this rate, it was unlikely she would ever fall from grace again.
They all went to the awards ceremony and even made a video call to Nina from the venue. Nelly was crying, feeling that she wouldn’t have made it without Nina’s support. They had finally seen the fruits of their hard work, and as expected, ‘Glory’ won Best Director and Best Actress awards.
Watching the live broadcast, Nina saw Nelly take the stage to a round of applause. It was Nelly’s first time wearing a gown. She usually dressed comfortably and casually. Now, she could barely walk in high heels, but she still managed to stand steadily on the stage. It was a significant moment for her.
From the television, Nina could see Nelly’s nervousness. After calming herself for a while, Nelly held the trophy and spoke into the microphone, “I’m so happy today because I’ve been waiting for this award for so long. From being an unknown director to standing here today…”
She recounted her journey, speaking gently and normally until she choked up suddenly.
