This car was different from the military vehicle. It was an off-road vehicle. Covered in dust and mud, the front end was severely dented from a significant impact. The door opened. James got out first and went to the back seat to open the door. “Captain, we’ve arrived in Kiewarra. I found a hotel where we can stay. I’ll send the address so they can meet us here.” “Okay,” Nash responded hoarsely.
He attempted to get out of the car, his brows furrowed deeply. Seeing this, James quickly reached out to support him. With James’s help, Nash got out of the car. In the sunlight, his face looked almost ghostly pale, with visible veins on his skin.
Felix parked the car and caught up with them. At the front desk, James retrieved the room key, and Felix said, “I’ll go buy some food and some hemostatic medicine. You guys wait in the room.”
They split up, not noticing that the previous occupants of the room were Nina and Scarlett.
Twenty minutes later, Felix returned with the hemostatic medicine and food. Nash was leaning against the headboard while James tended to him.
Nash had been shot. Fortunately, the bullet had passed through his shoulder blade without hitting any vital organs.
“Captain, do you want a towel to bite on?” James offered.
“No need,” Nash declined.
Having been in the military and undergone rigorous training, Nash was used to receiving treatment without anesthesia. His main concern now was, “Charge my phone.”
Since his last contact with Quincy, his phone had been out of signal and out of battery.
“I’ve already plugged in your phone, Captain. It should be ready to use soon,” Felix assured him.
“Good,” Nash replied, clenching his teeth throughout the procedure. By the time James removed the bullet from his shoulder blade, Nash was drenched in cold sweat. James gave him a painkiller.
A few minutes later, as James tried to give him some water, Nash stretched out his hand. “Give me my phone.”
Nash was anxious to check on Nina. Before leaving, he had arranged everything, even their divorce, to make her stay in Birkham and ensure her safety. Her wellbeing was the only thing that mattered to him. Felix quickly handed Nash his phone and dialed Quincy. Despite the time difference, Quincy answered immediately, wide awake.
“Mr. York, you’re finally calling me back. Madam… she went to Yaren!”
“When did this happen?” Nash’s brows knitted tightly, his forehead throbbing.
He had arranged everything, including their divorce, to make her stay safe in Birkham. With her body cleared of poison, what was she doing in Yaren?
Quincy hesitated. He knew that telling Nash about Nina’s trip to Yaren would only add to his stress and fuel his worries, but keeping it from him would be even worse if Nash found out later.
“It was over thirty hours ago… Mr. York, I couldn’t reach you, but I’ve already arranged for someone to follow her.”
Quincy had no choice but to tell the truth.
Nash’s expression grew stern and cold. “Keep an eye on York Corporation. I’ll handle things here.”
