“Here’s our lunch for today,” the man’s voice suddenly interrupted her thoughts. He handed Nina a small, roasted potato.
“Thank you,” Nina said in Yaren language.
She sat on a stone, peeling the potato when a shadow fell over her. Looking up, she saw Mr. Micah standing there, a gentle smile on his face.
“The children are still very young, and I’m the only teacher here. I’m sorry for earlier,” he said apologetically.
