Chapter 849

The DNA test results were in, and even though no test had been done between Ivy and him, the bracelet ended up in Nina’s hands, hinting at a possible conspiracy by Wilfred. Therefore, until the truth was uncovered, nothing must happen to Nina. Micah’s eyes glinted coldly. “Just follow my orders.”
He changed into a fresh set of clothes before heading to Pharaoh’s quarters, where he met Ivy at the entrance. Seeing him, Ivy removed her veil and greeted him warmly, “Brother.”
Ivy’s face was delicate and beautiful, and Micah responded indifferently, “Hmm.”
Ivy felt a pang of frustration. No matter how she acted around Micah, he always remained aloof, unlike his attentiveness towards Nina, even going so far as to assign Mr. Joker to protect her. She couldn’t understand what power Nina held over him. “Come in,” Pharaoh’s voice boomed as he heard them speaking.
Ivy beamed, “Brother, Father is calling us. Let’s go in.”
Micah’s lips tightened, and he didn’t say a word.
As they entered, Pharaoh was already seated at the round table, inviting them to eat. He wore a different mask this time, one that covered his face from the chin up, hiding his features and expressions. Despite the mask, his prominent chin and thin lips hinted that Pharaoh wasn’t bad-looking.
Pharaoh’s voice snapped Ivy back to reality, “I called you here to announce something. I’m getting old, and I believe our Yaren tribe needs to be united rather than divided. From now on, I’ll focus solely on my research, leaving the tribe’s matters to…” “When did you ever manage them?” Micah interjected coldly.
Pharaoh had always been engrossed in his experiments, with loyal subordinates who carried out his brutal orders.
The internal strife and external threats from allied forces, attracted by the area’s rich mineral resources, were all known to Pharaoh. His inaction equated to tacit approval.
In Pharaoh’s eyes, human lives were as insignificant as ants, and his experiments were above all else.
Pharaoh remained unfazed, replying calmly, “That’s why I’m handing everything over to you. I trust you’ll do better than I did.”
He continued, “And both of you are old enough to get married.”
Ivy was stunned. “Father, I want to help you with some responsibilities. I just got back. Isn’t it too soon for me to get married?” She sounded almost desperate.
Micah maintained a calm demeanor, but Pharaoh noticed all his reactions. “Micah, you have no objections?”
“I’m just not interested in what you’re saying,” Micah replied coldly. “Is that the only reason you called us here for dinner?”
“Not entirely,” Pharaoh responded. “Since Ivy returned, only my close associates and our camp know. I plan to host a banquet to introduce Ivy to everyone in the tribe and then hand over my position to you.” Pharaoh declared, his voice carrying an edge of authority. This was an order.
Micah scoffed, “You have plenty of capable people around you. Are you really worried about not finding someone to take over?
“Or, you could pass the position to Ivy,” Micah suggested.
Micah’s gaze shifted immediately to Ivy. He said no more, simply watching her with a scrutinizing look.
