She wasn’t aware of their inner thoughts or motives, but one thing was clear to Nina. This situation was far from simple.
Ivy prepared some items and brought them to Micah. However, Micah’s reaction to her actions was cold. “I don’t need your things,” he said bluntly, implying that she should take them away.
Ivy looked at Micah with a hint of hope. “Brother, I prepared these for Nina. I want to see her.”
“She doesn’t need these things,” Micah replied, his tone still cold.
If Ivy genuinely wanted to befriend Nina, she wouldn’t have brought her here. Ivy’s intentions were clear to Micah that she wanted to target Nina, and these gifts were just a facade. He found his sister’s actions disingenuous. “Brother, you’re not her. I understand your thoughts, but here with you, how could I harm her? I can’t hurt her,” Ivy insisted.
Micah just gave her a cold glance and said nothing more. He then turned away, leaving Ivy frustrated.
Her nails dug into her palms in frustration. She didn’t believe Nina would stay hidden in the room forever. Once Nina stepped out, Ivy would have plenty of opportunities. Her mind was filled with thoughts of all the ways she could make Nina suffer. Meanwhile, Nash was consumed with thoughts of Nina, studying maps and devising plans. He felt a strong urge to act.
Behind him was his country, and on his shoulders was his responsibility. But what if he acted on personal motives? Even if it meant dying, he wanted to be with Nina.
But then he thought of Nina’s face and realized they hadn’t had the chance to reunite as a family. How could they rush into death so quickly?
He couldn’t bear it.
Considering everything, Nash knew Nina wouldn’t be in immediate danger. He needed to follow up with the people they had rescued.
He went to check on Scarlett and Scott.
Scarlett was being cared for by James. She had lost all her memories and bore numerous scars. James discovered that her tendons had been severed and then reattached, leaving her movements less agile than before. Scarlett’s previously formidable skills and speed were now compromised.
Realizing this, James felt a deep, indescribable pain. He had endured many hardships on the battlefield, but this pain was different. It was suffocating.
He wanted to hold Scarlett, but she resisted him.
Nash witnessed this scene and chose to leave quietly, not wanting to intrude.
He loved Nina deeply and understood that James had feelings for Scarlett. This moment was heartbreaking for James. He longed for the days when Scarlett would scold or tease him like she used to, but that was no longer possible.
Scott was in a similar state, covered in wounds. His injuries spoke volumes about the torture he had endured.
Seeing Nash approach, Felix stood up and saluted. “Captain, Scott’s condition is deteriorating. The medic just discovered that his kidneys are failing.”
Scott had traveled across the world and endured much to find a cure for Nina. He had held on for so long for her sake.
