Chapter 898
Wilfred spoke slowly, his gaze growing more resolute. He suddenly remembered Ivy from years ago, how warm and beautiful her smile was.
Most importantly, she had once brought warmth and protection to him. Without her, he would not have survived. Even though his life was nearing its end, being by Ivy’s side was the greatest comfort to him now.
Pharaoh listened to Wilfred and then realized something. After a moment of silence, he spoke softly, “Don’t forget, I was the one who turned you into a healer.”
Pharaoh could make Wilfred a healer, and he could also just as easily restore him to a normal state, allowing him to live a regular life. He now understood that those experiments only led to more madness. To him, his children were the most important. “Really?” Wilfred’s eyes showed a glimmer of joy and excitement. When he had left, it was because he knew his life was nearing its end. Although he wanted to stay with Nina, he had no identity or healthy body and didn’t want to bring her sadness and pain. He returned later because Nash had called, saying Nina was in trouble. Seeing her suffer so much at Seth’s hands, he could not leave again.
But now, the Pharaoh claimed he could restore him to normal!
Becoming a normal person was his dream.
The Pharaoh, with a hoarse voice, replied, “Of course, I mean it. Consider it my gratitude for saving Nina.”
The Pharaoh and Micah stayed nearby, and they often encountered Nina. Even in the army, Nash took great care of her, providing her with special meals. With Micah and Pharaoh’s arrival, these became even more luxurious. But Nina had no appetite and often gave the food to the wounded.
“I don’t need special treatment,” she told Nash firmly. “I’ll eat what the soldiers eat. If Scott and Scarlett don’t want to leave, then neither will I.”
Nash expected this and felt helpless but had to respect her wishes. He clarified, “These special meals are from Micah and the Pharaoh, not me. If you don’t want them, tell them yourself.”
Nina glanced over at Micah and the Pharaoh, who were also eating. Their food was different from hers, and they smiled at her.
She pressed her lips together and said quietly, “I’ve made myself clear. Don’t interfere with my life. If you have business with Nash, deal with him directly. Leave me out of it.”
Feeling low, she decided to leave the tent after speaking. The Pharaoh felt a wave of disappointment. He wanted to make amends with his daughter, but in this war-torn land, his only way was through special treatment. Nina’s rejection hurt him deeply, leaving him at a loss for how to win her over.
Micah gave the Pharaoh a look, then got up to follow Nina. Hearing footsteps behind her, she guessed who it was but did not turn back. She was hoping he would give up if she walked faster.
Instead, Micah ran ahead and blocked her path.
“Nina, wait a moment!”
