Chapter 904

Scarlett did not respond immediately. It felt as if she had swallowed something bitter, and her throat was full of it. She had never seen Nina so desperate, her face streaked with tears and her eyes bloodshot.
Despite her own pain, Scarlett could only speak hoarsely, “Nina, only Captain knows where the child is. And with his death notice…”
Even if she did not want to believe it, they had searched for days without finding Nash. He must be dead. Without him, no one knew the child’s whereabouts. This was a torment for Nina.
Nina couldn’t control her emotions, and tears flowed like rain. “Scarlett, is this true? Please don’t lie to me. I… I really want to see my child. I…”
By the time she finished speaking, Nina was sobbing uncontrollably.
Scarlett felt even worse, but she hugged Nina tightly, gently patting her back. “Nina, I’m not lying to you. As long as you’re alive, anything is possible. Maybe Nash has already arranged everything, planned for when the child would meet you.” She had to say this, even if it was a lie. It was a necessary lie to keep Nina going.
Nina wiped her tears. “Yes, Scarlett is right. Nash always plans everything meticulously. ” Nina thought to herself.
Nina then nodded. “You’re right. I need to be strong. I need to live and see my child.
“Scarlett, thank you for everything you’ve done.”
Nina’s breakdown was brief, and she quickly regained her composure. She had not forgotten that Scarlett had risked her life to protect her. Scarlett had been rescued, covered in wounds and without her memory, tortured by Miranda. All of this was because of her. She had wanted to apologize to Scarlett many times but did not, believing Scarlett would regain her memory eventually. Now that she had, it was time for Nina to make her apologies.
“Nina, you have nothing to feel guilty about. I’m the one who should feel guilty. If it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t have been tortured by that poison for so long.”
Scarlett had followed Sawyer without knowing Nina’s true identity. Once she knew, she tried to make amends.
“Scarlett, don’t say that. You didn’t know, and it’s all in the past. Go get a proper check-up with the military doctor. I…”
Nina’s breath hitched as she spoke about herself. She had been exhausted and had not been eating properly during this time. To say she was in good health would be an overstatement. She was merely pushing through. Scarlett glanced at Wilfred standing nearby. “I’ll go to the doctor. When I come back, I’ll bring you some food.”
“Okay.”
With that, Scarlett left, leaving Nina and Wilfred alone in the tent.
Nina smiled faintly at Wilfred. “Thank you for staying with me. With all this chaos, I’m thinking of staying a bit longer and then going back to Birkham.”
She still could not believe Nash was gone. She wanted to stay a bit longer, hoping for some sign of him.
If nothing changed, she would return to Birkham and help manage York Corporation with Quincy.
