Chapter 972

Orion shook his head but held onto Nina’s hand even tighter. In the next moment, he slowly raised his hand.
Nash immediately reached out, understanding what Orion wanted.
The emotion welled up in Nina, and her voice broke as she spoke, “Orion, I promise you, once you’re better, we’ll go back to the place where your dad and I grew up. I’ll take you to school and pick you up every day.
“I’ll take you to see your grandparents. It’s nothing like the place you’ve been, with war all around. You’ll be able to play every day and eat all the delicious food you want.” Orion nodded, his strained voice barely above a whisper, “Okay.”
Pharaoh heard Nina’s words, and though it stung, he could not blame her. He understood that Nina’s upbringing had been vastly different from the values of the Yaren Tribe. “I’ll go make you something to eat,” Nina said, gently patting Orion’s hand before standing up.
Nash hesitated for a moment, noticing the sadness in Pharaoh’s eyes. He gave Pharaoh a meaningful look before following Nina out.
Orion did not speak much, but when he saw Pharaoh, he managed a faint smile. As he lay in the lab, Pharaoh had been constantly at his side, taking care of him.
Pharaoh would cover Orion’s eyes during injections and softly comfort him. Orion could sense that this man, Pharaoh, was a kind and caring grandfather. Pharaoh gently stroked Orion’s head. “Your mom and dad are making you something to eat. Be a good boy, okay? Have you been feeling better lately?”
Since Orion started taking the Seven-Leaf Clover, his complexion had improved, and his asthma attacks had ceased. The bone marrow matches were still ongoing, and as soon as a match was found, they would proceed with the transplant, ensuring that Orion could grow up healthy and happy.
Pharaoh knew that if he could help save Orion, Nina would remember his kindness.
“Orion…” Pharaoh began, but the words caught in his throat, and he swallowed them back.
Orion was still a child. Pharaoh’s mistakes should not burden him. It was not right to drag him into his own guilt and regrets.
Orion sensed that Pharaoh had something to say but remained silent, not asking any questions.
Meanwhile, Nina sought out Mr. Joker and asked him to take her to the kitchen. The kitchen was well-stocked, as it was responsible for preparing meals for Pharaoh and Micah.
The kitchen was separate from the main living quarters. Nina, mindful of Orion’s delicate health, decided to make something light. She avoided shrimp and fish, fearing they might trigger his asthma, and she was cautious about using eggs. In the end, she opted for a simple dish, chicken broth.
Nash stayed by her side.
“As long as there’s no external conflict, we’ll be safe within the Yaren Tribe. But you probably haven’t had much time to spend with Orion,” Nina said quietly, her voice tinged with sadness.
Nash had been in a coma for over three years, and even after his recovery, he had little time to spend with their son. Plus, his father often tasked him with various responsibilities. “Yeah,” Nash replied, his voice hoarse.
He recalled the time Orion had spent with his father. Orion had not been breastfed as a baby, and Nina had been poisoned while pregnant with him.
As a result, Orion had been frail from birth. Nash’s father had pushed Orion hard, hoping to strengthen him, but it had only made his life difficult and repressive.
Nina had suspected as much, but hearing Nash confirm it made her heart ache even more.
These past few years had been so hard for all of them.
