When I finally walked out wearing red lipstick, a white dress, and red sandals, my father was already waiting.

I got into the car, and he started driving while I anxiously waited to see Elgin.

It was going to be really hard for me to accept anyone other than Graham.

But Graham had left me with no choice.

When we arrived at the mansion, Elgin’s car was pulling in at almost the exact same time.

And he did not look okay.

The way he slammed the door open and stepped out, I could already tell he had gotten the confirmation he needed.

In order to finally understand how much Silver had betrayed him, I stayed listening.

“You fucking bitch!” he screamed the minute Silver got out of the car.

I noticed Hailey and Hannah getting out behind their mother.

They were crying hysterically too.

“You fucking played me!” Elgin screamed again, throwing his phone onto the ground and making everybody flinch.

Lord John was trying his best to shield his daughter from Elgin’s wrath.

At this point, I wondered if Silver was still going to lie.

Well, it seemed like she had finally given up.

That was when I noticed Silver checking me out.

She looked me up and down, and a frown deepened on her forehead.

“I’ll fucking deal with you, Silver,” Elgin grunted.

I could tell he needed to get away from her and have some time alone.

He moved off to the side while the kids remained with their grandfather.

Elgin’s mother rushed after him, but Silver had already started marching toward me, more aggressively than ever.

“What are you doing here?” she demanded, almost snapping at me. “And why the fuck are you dressed like a hooker?”

The moment she called me a hooker, something inside me snapped.

I mean, if anything, I was the only one who hadn’t been sleeping around with multiple men.

Look at Madeline, Yuvonne and Silver.

They were all whores.

I was the only one who had stayed loyal to one man until he simply disappeared.

“What did you just call me?” I asked, my fists clenching.

“You’re the real hooker,” I shot back, watching her gasp.

“Careful,” she warned, pointing a finger at me.

But I stepped toward her.

“Why? What could you do, huh? Sleep with my husband or my father? Because that’s exactly what I’d expect from you.”

As I threw her words back at her, I already knew what she was going to do next.

When her words failed to shut someone down, she always resorted to power.

She stepped back and swung her

arm to slap me, but I caught heret

face instead, making her father gasp and rush toward us.

That was when my father stepped forward.

Her father might have been a council leader now, but after all the disgrace that had

unfolded, they needed to be careful not to threaten a royal beta.

My father warned him not to lay a hand on me.

“I thought you were my friend,” Silver hissed.

I scoffed and shoved her away.

“Was that before or after you called me a hooker? Or after you stopped contacting me and never once checked to see how I was doing?” ! Red, tapping my foot against the ground.

The smirk on my lips was already getting under her skin. I could tell.

“Let’s go. We have to go after Elgin. Let’s not talk to her.”

Her father gently grabbed her while she stared at me, tears running down her face.

I knew she would never have cried for me.

The only reason she was crying now was because she had been completely screwed over.

As she walked away with her daughters, I followed after them.

I could tell she was bothered to see me all glammed up.

She probably thought I was here to steal the opportunity, and truthfully, I was.

The moment she opened the door to the mansion and the living room came into view, I gasped.

There were gifts stacked everywhere, one for Hailey, one for Hannah, and one for Silver.

Seeing all of that, Silver broke down.

I watched Elgin standing by the window, clenching and unclenching his fist while his

mother tried to comfort him.

That was when we arrived, and his eyes landed on me.

I watched him frown in confusion.

It wasn’t amusement, of course. He was dealing with a lot.

“This is for us?”

Of course, children being children, Hailey and Hannah forgot what the whole

situation was about and made a beeline for the gifts.

That was when I saw Elgin’s body flinch.

I wouldn’t be lying if I said I’d never seen someone change so quickly.

I mean, Graham was one of them, but Elgin took the cake.

He changed his behavior toward his daughters, the girls he thought were his daughters, so quickly that I was stunned.

Before the kids could even reach the first gift, Elgin stepped forward, crouched down, and spread his arms.

Part of me thought he was about to

hug them until he shoved both girls

with full force, sending them

sprawling onto their backs and.

making everyone, even his own mother, yelp.
