Upon hearing the noise, Nina instinctively slammed on the brakes. Her gaze shifted towards the alley, where she saw a few rough-looking men gathered together. These guys seemed shady, and when Nina caught a glimpse of the girl’s clothing, it struck a chord.
Wasn’t that Eve? She stared for a moment longer, noticing the panic and fear on Eve’s face. Clearly, she was in distress and did not know what to do in such a situation. Eve’s complexion was grim. “Don’t come any closer! If you lay a finger on me, my grandfather won’t let you get away with it!” Eve had grown up sheltered and privileged, never encountering such a situation before, let alone being bullied. She had intended to go out for dinner with Stella, but since Stella had something to attend to and was on the phone, Eve wandered around nearby. A few steps later, she found herself lost and ended up in this sketchy area.

“Hey, sweetheart, since fate has brought us together, and we’re a bit short on cash, how about you give us a little money, huh?” Their gaze remained fixed on Eve.
Eve patted herself down, but she had no money on her. She had come out empty-handed, without any cash, and had even forgotten her phone. She felt frustrated with herself for being so absent-minded, not even bringing her phone.
She glanced around again, wondering where Stella could be. Wasn’t she just here? How could she suddenly disappear?
“I don’t have any money,” Eve said cautiously, feeling pressured as the men approached her. She backed away, searching for something to defend herself with, but there was nothing around.
“How could you have no money? Look at you, all pampered and spoiled. If you don’t have money, we’ll just have your parents pay for your release.”
Seeing an opportunity to make some quick cash, they were not about to let her off easily.
“Ah-!” Eve screamed in fright as they closed in on her, her face turning pale as she hugged her head tightly.
“Stop.”
Just when Eve felt trapped and unable to escape, she heard someone speaking. The men backed away from her.
“Hey, another pretty girl,” they remarked, turning their attention to Nina.
“And there are two of them.”
Taylor stood hesitantly behind Nina. If she were in Nina’s shoes and Eve had offended her, she would not bother to intervene. But Nina couldn’t just stand by and watch. She could not abandon Eve, so she followed.
Nina scrutinized the men from head to toe. They looked disheveled, with unattractive faces and unkempt hair. They seemed frail and somewhat dazed.
She had not gotten out of the car in this area before, but she had heard it was rough, with all sorts of people around. These addicts were just after money, but if they were more malicious, Eve could have been in serious trouble.
If she did not intervene, Eve would likely be in big trouble today.
“You just want money, right? I have some here that I can give you,” Nina said, taking out over two hundred bucks from her wallet. “But you have to let her go.”
