Chapter 349
Being caught by the press was a big no-no. Nina watched the video quietly, opting not to chime in. Whether Miranda was involved with the male actor did not matter much to her. But Nash’s reaction, was he getting jealous?
Nina had no interest in checking if they were in the office or why Nash was upset. That would just spell trouble. She reminded herself not to overthink it.
Meanwhile, Taylor and Cynthia discussed Nash and Miranda’s relationship. The office door swung open once more, this time by Miranda herself. Taylor and Cynthia fell silent.
“Nash, there’s nothing between us. It’s just tabloid nonsense. I’ll make sure it doesn’t happen again. Please don’t be mad,” Miranda’s voice wavered as she tried to calm Nash down. Taylor could not help but roll her eyes. Miranda was quite the performer, so fake.
Nash’s expression was stern, his eyes grave as he replied in a deep voice, “This is the last time. I don’t want to see this kind of gossip again.”
“I’ll be more careful,” Miranda explained, “You know I’m new to this and don’t understand the rules yet. I’ll keep my distance from male actors in the future.” Nash replied casually, “Hmm.”
Nina overheard their conversation. As Cynthia had mentioned, Nash was not happy about Miranda’s tabloid news.
Miranda left the office. Nina’s desk was nearby, and Miranda would soon be visible from there.
Seeing everyone gathered, Miranda glanced at Nash and asked, “Why is everyone standing here? Nash, have you hired two more secretaries for your office?” Nash glanced at Taylor and Cynthia. They seemed curious but also serious. “What are you doing standing here? Don’t you have work?” he said sternly. Taylor and Cynthia were immediately taken aback. They knew that when Nash said something like that, he was definitely displeased with their behavior.
“We’ll leave right away,” Taylor replied, her head bowed, and Cynthia echoed her sentiment, both eager to leave.
Nina, maintaining her expressionless face, stepped in to explain. “I just had them come over to grab some documents for copying. I didn’t expect Miss Miranda to walk out right then.”
“Come over to pick up the documents!” she exclaimed at them. They scurried back to Nina’s side.
Miranda looked at Nina again. Now that Miranda was riding high on her popularity, she had become more self-assured.
It seemed like she wanted to flaunt herself in front of Nina, fiddling with the diamond ring on her finger and grinning, “Do you really need both of them to come over? The efficiency in this company isn’t exactly top-notch, unlike Nash’s new entertainment company. They manage multiple tasks with just one assistant, saving the company money.”
She glanced at them once more. “Dealing with such unreliable people, it’s better to have fewer of them.”
While her words appeared aimed at Taylor and Cynthia, they were actually meant to assert dominance over Nina.
Nina held her gaze, standing her ground, and replied calmly, “Cynthia is new here and still getting the hang of things. It’s only fair for Taylor to help her get settled. And as you’re aware, the entertainment company is just starting out, so it naturally can’t match the staff resources of the York Corporation. The York Corporation has plenty of manpower to spare, but your company might not be in the same position.” She fired back and Miranda did not take it well.
She instinctively clenched her fists, softening her tone as she countered, “Luckily Nash has vision. Our company is profitable. Have you seen my drama?”
Nina’s gaze remained on her computer. “I don’t like brainless dramas. I haven’t watched it.”
