Nash intervened, pulling Zoe back, fearing her impulsive actions might escalate the situation. “What’s going on, Aunt Zoe? Let her go!”
Zoe shrugged off Nash’s hand. “I’m not letting go. Today, I’m going to reveal her true colors and show you all. She’s nothing but a liar. She’s not deaf at all!”
“Ah-” Miranda screamed loudly. “You all wish for my death, I’ll die then!”
In the midst of their entanglement, she pushed past everyone and ran out. She crashed into the wall. Blood gushed from her head, and she fell to the ground unconscious.
Nina widened her eyes, watching Miranda’s action in shock, her face pale and her body retreating. Zoe was also stunned, not expecting Miranda to be so reckless. No one reacted in time.
“Miranda!” The assistant called out in fear, “You gang of tormentors, you’re all hurting her!”
Nash did not hesitate, and he carried Miranda out directly. “Quick, call the doctor!”
The assistant did not have time to argue with them and hurried out to call the doctor. The doctor rushed over and quickly pushed Miranda into the emergency room.
The chaotic scene lasted a few minutes before returning to calm. They all waited outside. The assistant kept crying. Nash’s expression darkened as he made a call nearby.
Meanwhile, Zoe, feeling calmer, observed Miranda in the emergency room, looking almost like a corpse. Zoe hadn’t expected Miranda to be so ruthless towards herself. It seemed she had underestimated her! Nina still had not recovered from the shock just now.
Zoe was now hit with a cold dose of reality, unusually composed. She turned to look at Nina, noticing her pale face, and said, “Nina, I scared you just now.”
Nina glanced at Zoe and began, “Zoe…”
“You’re pregnant, you shouldn’t be exposed to blood. Go rest,”
Zoe regretted her impulsive actions. Miranda’s acting was unexpectedly convincing. “I acted rashly earlier, and it might have upset you. I apologize. I’ll take care of this situation.”
“No, Zoe,” Nina replied, “I’m concerned that Miranda’s actions might have affected you.”
“It’s okay, I’ll handle it,” Zoe reassured her.
But Nina held her hand, very worried about her, “You did all this for me. If only I had stopped you earlier.”
Zoe patted Nina’s hand gently and smiled warmly, “Sweetheart, don’t worry like that. I’m straightforward and I’ve offended many people. I’m not afraid of anyone’s judgment. Plus, I really can’t stand homewreckers like her, not just for your sake. I just didn’t expect it would come to this. Miranda was so ruthless to herself!” She had underestimated Miranda too much.
Nina was not completely reassured, “I hope she’s okay.”
“Go and rest, lying down for a while is good. You shouldn’t overexert yourself!” Zoe comforted Nina, assuring her that she would take care of everything if anything happened, but she could not let Nina and her baby suffer.
Nina could not rest easy, but Zoe kept persuading her. She knew Zoe would not stop until she did. So, she did not argue with her.
Instead, her gaze shifted towards Nash. Zoe was his aunt, so he would definitely figure out a way to handle this.
She walked over, coincidentally heading back towards the ward. She wanted to ask Nash about Miranda’s specific illness.
After all, it was better to be prepared for anything.
