Michelle’s face turned pale. She had not anticipated this would backfire on her as well.
Suddenly, she recalled Nina’s warnings about valuing her reputation.
Michelle’s first reaction was to blame Nina. “Could this be Nina’s doing?”
Miranda was too afraid to check her phone, fearing the comments that could affect her career in the entertainment industry. She was terrified.
Her phone rang incessantly, showing an unknown number. Hesitant, she finally answered, hoping it was a private call. Instead, a voice shouted, “You bloodsucking witch! Do you think acting in a few dramas makes you special? Bullying ordinary people like this, you’ll meet a terrible end. If I find you, I’ll skin you alive!”
The threat turned Miranda’s face white with fear. She quickly hung up and threw the phone aside, but it immediately rang again with another unknown number. Covering her head as if the phone were a virus, she turned to her assistant. “Turn it off, shut it down now!”
The assistant quickly complied, turning off the phone.
Seeing the chaos, Michelle snapped, “Miss Miranda, haven’t you considered who leaked your medical records? If you had planned properly, you wouldn’t have been caught off guard. I thought you were smart, but how could you let this happen? Now I’m dragged down with you!”
Michelle had hoped working with Miranda would elevate her career, but instead, it was sinking.
Miranda tried to regain her composure. She needed to find a way to turn the situation around. She looked at Michelle and asked, “You mentioned Nina?”
Michelle replied, “Didn’t you see the news? The report exposing you came from Starry Sky TV station, and it was written by someone from my department!”
Seeing the byline had already made her anxious, and now she felt like a pawn in someone else’s game. It was infuriating.
Miranda quickly checked Michelle’s phone and saw the name, “Angel.”
Michelle added, “You probably don’t know, but Angel and Nina are close. If it weren’t for Nina’s meddling, this news wouldn’t exist.”
“Nina,” Miranda muttered, pondering. She had expected Wilfred to deal with Nina, eliminating her as an obstacle. With Wilfred’s help, she thought things would go smoothly, and she could quickly marry Nash and become a top figure in the entertainment industry.
The only person who had her medical records was Wilfred.
How could this have happened? Miranda could not fathom why Wilfred would expose her so easily.
