Hearing this, Nina instinctively clenched her fists and avoided his gaze. She was afraid she was being too self-centered. “You only want to change because you care. Why do you care so much?” Nash looked at her. “You’re my wife.”
Nina pursed her lips slightly and poked the tacos with her fork without eating. “Haven’t we already agreed to divorce? Just being your wife isn’t enough of a reason. You never tried to change for me before, so why now?”
Nash simply watched her, seemingly deep in thought, without saying anything more.
Feeling his gaze on her and seeing that he was not speaking, Nina stopped waiting and began to eat, keeping her head down.
“I think I’m falling for you.”
“Cough, cough, cough…”
The light comment caught Nina off guard, causing her to choke on the spicy tacos. It burned her throat and made her feel awful.
Seeing her struggle, Nash quickly poured her some water. “Are you okay? Drink some water!”
Tears welled up in Nina’s eyes, blurring her vision, and she was not sure what the tears meant. Was it because of the long-awaited confession, or was she just in pain from choking? She took the water from him and drank.
Despite this, the spicy burn lingered in her throat, making her cough and turning her cheeks red.
Nash frowned slightly and patted her back to help her breathe.
After a while, the burning sensation faded, and Nina had time to process his words.

That he felt he was falling for her?
Nina never dreamed that Nash would say such a thing to her.
“Feeling better?” Nash asked, concerned.
Nina looked at him in shock. “What did you just say?”
Nash’s expression was serious as he repeated, “I think I’m falling for you.”
Nina quickly averted her gaze. If he had said this earlier, she would have been overjoyed. Now, however, a bitter feeling spread through her heart.
Nash was also nervous, his hands clenched tightly. He feared her rejection, knowing their marriage had not been perfect from the start.
“You don’t need to respond. Just knowing how I feel is enough.”
He was anxious and did not want to hear her answer, aware that another man still occupied her heart. He knew it would take time to win her back.
Nina, overwhelmed by his sudden confession, remained silent, unsure of what to say. She lowered her head, and as she moved her fork, she accidentally spilled some sauce from the tacos. The sauce splattered onto her pajamas.
Nash quickly grabbed a napkin and wiped it off. “Eat slowly. No one’s going to take it from you.”
“Okay.”
Nina’s long eyelashes fluttered slightly, hiding her inner turmoil.
Nash sat beside her, watching her take small bites. Whenever the spice got to her, she would breathe in sharply. He was there, handing her tea and napkins.
After she finished eating, Nina felt satisfied but also sleepy. Seeing that Nash had no intention of leaving, she asked, “Aren’t you going home?”
Nash replied, “Go rest if you’re tired. I’ll close the door when I leave.”
He kept his distance, but he could not stop himself from caring about her.
Nina glanced at him. Since moving here, Nash had not been as domineering as before. Instead, he seemed more cautious.
Deciding to let it be, she went to her room and quickly shut the door, still feeling unsettled.
