Nash was not wearing any clothes, his disheveled hair still dripping water. His deep-set eyes and chiseled features were accentuated by the droplets trailing down his jaw, over his neck, and disappearing into his chest.
Even though she had known Nash for seven years and had been his wife for three, seeing him like this still made her feel uncomfortable.
She maintained a cold demeanor, but her eyes avoided looking directly at him. “Why didn’t you let me know earlier? Someone else took the assignment, and I couldn’t go against the editor’s decision.” Nash did not continue the topic but asked, “And this time?”
“Well, now that I’m here, you should know I’m sincere about this interview,” Nina replied.
She reminded herself that they were no longer married. No, they had never truly been a couple. They just had a piece of paper saying they were. She had never experienced happiness or joy in their so-called marriage.
“Alright then, let’s begin,” Nash said.
He was still in the pool, completely naked, making the interview awkward.
Nina suggested, “Shouldn’t you get out of the pool and put on some clothes, Mr. York? It would be more appropriate.”
“Isn’t your professional ability enough?” Nash questioned. “As a reporter, shouldn’t you be able to conduct interviews anytime, anywhere?”
Nina pressed her lips together.
With anyone else, even another man in a pool, she wouldn’t feel this uncomfortable.
“Mr. York, you know I’m new at Starry Sky TV station and not as experienced as seasoned reporters. I hope you can understand and give a newcomer some leeway,” Nina replied, maintaining a polite demeanor.
Nash rested his arms on the edge of the pool. His muscular arms were clearly defined, and his veins bulged, exuding an intense sense of masculinity.
“Then come here,” Nash instructed in his deep voice.
Nina hesitated. “For what?”
“Isn’t this for an interview?” Nash’s voice was low and commanding. “How can you interview me if you don’t come closer?”
She hesitated, not wanting to face him in such a situation, let alone be so close to him.
Nash’s eyes darkened, his tone more like that of a boss instructing her: “If you still don’t know how after I’ve taught you, what can I do? If you really don’t want to face me, then just go back. I’ll have my assistant talk to your editor and find another reporter. I don’t mind.”
His words were casual, almost as if it did not matter whether it was Nina or someone else. Even if it were another reporter, Nash would have handled it just as well. This made Nina feel a little less cautious and hesitant. This was work, not personal life, and she needed to keep them separate.
Finally, she cleared her mind, lifted her head, and looked at Nash. He had turned away again, showing her the back of his head. His words and attitude were distant and indifferent.
That was fine. If Nash did not care, then why should she be so self-conscious? Nina composed herself, stood up straight, prepared the recorder, and attached the microphone to her clothes.
Once she was ready, she approached Nash, treating him as just another interviewee. “Mr. York, since you don’t mind, let’s start. I have a few questions for you…”

Water splashed up again.
As Nina reached the pool’s edge and before she could finish her sentence, a long arm reached out. He grabbed her waist, and pulled her into the water.
